I got a free copy of Basic turbo tax in the mail and thought I'd give it a try. I had always done my returns on paper and mailed them in becuase I refused to pay money for the privelage of paying money to the government. This is a well pollished product that makes it easy to prepare taxes yourself. The free-file and zero purchase cost means there is no reason not to use it.

I had done a rough calculation of what our taxes would be and was so upset that we were going to owe $2,000. I used my Turbo Tax software and ended up getting a refund of $1700! There were several new changes that I hadn't researched fully when I did my rough calculation and Turbo Tax found these plus much more.

Too many sales pitches

The interview questions work reasonably well for the basics but as the forms become more involved it becomes difficult to figure out where the questions are leading until the end. A guide of the complete interview before starting would be helpful.
It is also very annoying to be repeatedly asked to spend more money just for the privilege of paying taxes. Please remove the repeated questions and just allow the option for getting more when requested.
