I found that the federal tax part of the program was easy, but when I tried to file my state taxes using Turbo Tax is was confussing.

needs work

At first, Turbotax used even our US income in calculating the amount of foreign earned income the one spouse who lives abroad could claim. After I notified them, my program worked differently. Since Turbotax will be providing Canadian tax software next year, I hope that the software will be suitable for couples who have one worker in the US and one in Canada. Lots of answers that were difficult to find this year through Quicktax (the Canadian version) in addition to the initial glitch in Turbotax.

Have been using Turbotax for quite a few years. Not a complicated return. Love being able to download investment info.

Amended Due to Medicare Insurance Premium Error
on July 15, 2010
Posted by: KensTaxMatters
I was glad that TT let us know before the IRS caught the error. Medicare Insurance premium was carried forward automatically from SSA-1099 data to the Schedule A medical deductions. But without being aware of this, I also entered it in my Schedule A under insurance premiums. The TT notice actually served to my advantage, for I had forgotten to take the deduction on my personal medical insurance premiums. Net result: Refund!
