Using the Turbo Tax basic is good enough for most users, the program may not be as pretty as the deluxe or premium versions, but it is still easy to use and does the job

Won't let me file electronically
on April 15, 2010

Everything was OK until the final check. It refused to file electronically my return until I filled in information that I had intentionally left blank because it didn't apply. I earned $650 at a summer soccer camp last year. I received the 1099 form as usual. In the past, my accountant just filled out the Short Schedule SE. With TuboTax, I was essentially required to make up a business name and information about the accounting. I don't mind paying the self employment tax, but TurboTax can't put it in simply as income; it had to create a business for me. It flagged all the blanks as my errors and would not complete the electronic submission until I had put something in the boxes. I was given the option of printing the forms and mailing through snail mail, but that kind of defeats half the purpose of having the program in the first place.

Farm F Schedule process

I ended up using the manual entry procedure, that is, i didn't import my info from Quickbooks because of possible duplication of entries?
Maybe some info box showing the F schedule being updated as numbers are added, so one can compare to, say, a Quickbooks income statement.

Today I received a letter from the IRS saying that I needed to submit a schedule L. Why wasn't this included when I printed my return?
Seperately, It is very difficult to go back into turbo tax and see what calculations were made.
