Easy and Quick

Having used Turbo Tax for the past 15 years, I've only seen it get better and better. It's a snap to complete my taxes, and I really like the free e-filing. I especially like how it picks up information from my prior year tax file so I don't have to re-enter information and I really like the historical comparison it calculates so I can see how my income, deductables, and credits have changed over the years. I never fret when filling out taxes b/c I know Turbo Tax will logically walk me through each step. I used the Basic version.

can't delete Foreign Income form
on April 14, 2010

I worked briefly overseas in '09. So, when the question came up, I clicked "Yes". But then when it got into the 2555 form, it asks where my foreign paid income came from and how much, which is none as I was still on my company's US payroll. If you tell it you were overseas at any time, it erroneously assumes the entire year's wages are foreign income. As I was actually paid out of the US, I tried to delete the form and cancel it. But, no matter how many times I pressed "Delete Form", it just wouldn't let go of it. Tried and tried and tried, but no... Even at the end when I tried to efile, the 2555 form still came up. Only way I could figure out how to get rid of it was to delete the whole return and start over. You cannot assume that if someone worked overseas, that they are paid from an overseas source. There's a difference between working overseas and working for a foreign company. Second time I created the return, I just had to say, no, I was not overseas - which is not entirely accurate, but what can you do?

Never ever again
on April 15, 2010

Made erroneous calculations, can not get any assistance, does not allow proper entry. Is hard to move around as screens are too big and have extra stuff that hinders navigation. Intuit products have gone from excellent to useless over the years. I have destroyed my Quicken CD and will never ever ever buy another Intuit product. I'm sure I'll be paying a hefty fine to IRS over this TurboTax filing but its too late to do something else. I swore last year I wouldn't by TT again. Never ever ever again.
