I have had a CPA prepare my own & my kids' taxes each year for many years. She is retiring so this year I did it on TT and had her check it over. She did not change one thing!

Can't get through tax season without it!

Long ago I had a professional do my taxes, and then started doing them by hand. Getting ALL the right forms, making sure I was aware of EVERY option available to lighten my tax load, trying to understand the IRS booklets/instructions and/or contacting an IRS rep for help -- was a NIGHTMARE! Paperwork was processed slowly and refunds took months. Then I discovered TURBO TAX. And even though my returns are less complex as the years go by, my friends and family --who file the long form with all kinds of income and deductions -- use TURBO TAX and LOVE IT! Definitey worth the price of this software!

Used it for years - still is a great buy. I'm a CPA and we use a large program at the office - that still cannot upload brokerage info like Turbo Tax does . .

could be better but getting better

poor handling of capital loss c/o for prior years, when previous year's data is acquired from last year's product, but origin date of capital loss c/o was never added in. Had to tweak the number from last year to get this year's c/o to be correct. Kind of a guessing game. Previous year you could over-ride the number in the form. This year, you had to mess with the worksheet, adding a layer of complexity to the process.
on 1099-DIV, foreign tax paid, did not have an option to enter [unknown] when entering the portion of dividends and distrubtions that was from foreign sources. The fund I use does not keep track of the percentages.
you do a good job of insulting me from the IRS forms. On review, however, you still had to direct me to the form to check off if I wanted to deduct the foreign tax paid or use another form.
on review, the 9 digit zip code was concatenated from xxxxx-yyyy to xxxxxyyyy, causing some concern that the address would be thus compromised in the forms being filed. This was not the case.
overall, the product improved from last year. less advertising.
For MN returns, the state is so simple to fill out, it is surprising you still try to sell us a MN product for $45. You should charge by complexity of the return, not by an across the board figure. I would do it for $10; might consider it for $15, no way i'd ever spend more than 1/2 the cost of the federal product to get the state product.

Very Intuitive

It was very detailed, yet it allowed me to effortlessly skip over sections that clearly didn't apply to me. If I had a question about ANY section, there was a button that would reveal more detailed information and help. I can't believe this was free! Thanks TurboTax!!!

I found that going back to amend wasnt as easy as doing the actual return. It was frustrating for me to navigate thru even with the directions.

The program was very thorough. I couldn't find where to check the box to let someone discuss the return with the IRS, so I had to white it out and write it in by hand. Also not being able to see the completed form without the calculations in the middle was unfortunate. otherwise the turbo tax is very easy to use,
