Good Tax Prep

Greatest software I've ever used to prepare my own taxes. The only downside is that I play KENO and often win; this means entering W2G's, and I cannot duplicate the information from one to the next. This is only a problem if I have more than 50, which I often do. An option to duplicate lines one through eight would be helpful and help me avoid carpal tunnel syndrome.

Bitter Sweet

Overall, Turbo Tax was a great way to submit my return. But after making a mistake, it was hard to figure out how to correct it when the error's would come up and rejection submissions. There was a clear reason why the error was occurring, but Turbo Tax does not tell you step by step on how to resolve the issues. I must of did my return 5 times before figuring it out myself. Calling the help line was no use as well. They would tell me the same thing over and over. Until I had to get help from a Tax Expert and be charged the fee on top of the purchase of the program and states. Tough price to pay for a simple mistake made in a section where it was very unclear what to add having 3 W-2 forms and living in one state while working in another.

2009 basic

I user turbo tax because the tax forms are just too complex to do other wise (Congress take note: make the laws simpler). It's deductible is essential since we do a lot of used goods donation. Problems to work on are: (1) when leaving TT and coming back to it later you have to go through a lot of the old stuff to get where you were and TT is prone to skip parts in this case. Business us of my home in particular I had to go back and look for. (2) The search did n't work very well to get me back to use of home. (3) the review dropped me into the tax forms and the questions were hard to answer because I didn't understand the context. It woudl have been better to go back to the dialog which is what I ended up doing. (4) I think I am filing more forms that I need to and that is preventing me form e-filing, In particular forms 2441, 8863 which had zero or default totals so why not just drop the forms. Unfortunatly TT didn't tell me which forms were preventing me from e-filing and hence did not tell me if I could get by without them.

Turbo Tax Is Complete

I found Turbo Tax 2009 somewhat difficult to navigate back and forth in reviewing previous information. I would have liked for the detailed entry forms to be much easier to get to. I just found it more difficult to use in 2009.
