effective tax rate never seems to make sense. I can;t find any combination of income and taxes that equal the effective tax rate.
partial year resident in a state is not as clear as it could be.

IS MICROSOFT RUNNING THE JOINT NOW?

Turbo tax has always been one of the most friendly programs available... and, I don't really consider myself a user that needs to need that kind of hand holding. But, what I do expect is reasonable program start up time or at least a little feedback that something is happening particularly for a program that after you have used it you know it is less than stable, a more comprehensive tool with a whole lot less reminders (ads) that not only interrupt your progress but also remind you that the product that you don't pay less for gets less robust every year, multithreading so I can do REALwhat-if analysis, and finally one that doesn't crash and take your work with it.
Sorry folks, you fail this year... the 'interview' is poorly done, the help search doesn't have enough plain language 'intelligence' built in that it can find anything beyond the most simple answer. Ccomputing very simple calculations has been double deferred (calculate it by hand after finding the right IRS form yourself) such as in the case of the inclusion amount for a leased vehicle used in a business... a relatively straightforward calculation that they should have automated... no excuse here...
I could go on and on and after days of fighting with this program and I am tempted but why... For some reason the programmers and their strategic planners have become way too comfortable in their place in the market... Yes, I still buy Microsoft products and put up with their bugs but, I hate to tell you Intuit.... you just aren't that special...
Wake up before you lose those of us who have been loyal since the beginning.... it is a two way street remember?.

Not as good as prior years

The 'basic' product that I downloaded seemed to be not as smooth or direct as the previous years 'deluxe' versions. If the two are different in operation I would recommend the deluxe version of next year or Turbo Tax needs to fine tune the basic program.

It would be a good idea to give us an overview of how taxes are different from previous year to current tax year. That way we know in advance that ceratin deductions are no longer applicable, for example

I'd definitely buy this again!! Though, next year I may have a more complex filling and will move up to the Deluxe version.
