TurboTax is worse than the government

TurboTax nickels and dimes you for everything. You will not get your taxes done for less than $100, even though the software costs $25. You pay an extra $45 to file state taxes, and then another BS $20 fee to e-file. They even charge you a 2.5% fee to pay your taxes with a credit card, which is a lot when you're paying over $2000. I will never ever use their filthy software again. I hate TurboTax. They are better than the government is at taking money.

Simple to use

You need to expand the space to provide for telephone contact with the filer.
I am overseas and your software will only accept a US area code and phonbe number total of ten digits
My number from the SU needs thirteen digits. I entered my son in the US's number in order to get past your pre electronic filing checks.

No net operating loss help:(

Overall the software was very helpful. The interview process was very easy and the hardest part is getting all the paperwork ready ahead of time. TurboTax did a great job using the information I entered to fill in the proper forms. I do wish it helped to complete the filing of a net operating loss. Instead it refers you do an IRS publication and the related forms. I have the Home and Business edition, which was not cheap. I was hoping it would do everything. It did a good job with most of the forms, even the more complicated ones I have struggled with in the past. I would give it the full five stars if it would have helped with the net operating loss forms and walked me through amending last years taxes. I hope there isn't too much to it . Overall a little expensive, but a little cheaper than hiring a CPA. I will probably use it again. I am just hoping I don't get audited now and have to resurrect this pile of paperwork. Best of Luck.

12 years running!

Quicken TurboTax has been a valuable tool since I started using it over 12 years ago. I also use the Quicken software to maintain checking, savings, and investments. Very easy to follow or you can choose to skip around the program. I used the online version last year but wasn't able to save as a file I could transfer over onto the 2010 version. Having a mortgage and stock/option investion investments, only the basic version was needed. Tried the deluxe version one year, it was nice, had extra help but not enough to justify the additional cost. Good luck!

Good program

The program is easy to use and almost all times the entry questions are clear. When I did have questions about an entry field and used help screens, I found the "Info" or "help" too brief, sometimes leaving me with questions after reading the provided "help".

saves my "bacon"

i have used t/tax for at least 6 years. i dislike the reporting process of the irs. t/tax allows me to follow instructions and get thru the process with a minimum of agravation. i feel comfortable in knowing that if i play it straight with irs then t/tax will keep me straight. so far, i've not been audited. Thanks!
