Paid too Much for Basic

This year I used the basic (rather than deluxe) since I was only preparing taxes for my Mother - a retiree with little complexity. However, to my surprise, the State Form Download was $48 !! Therefore, the basic + state download is more expensive than the Deluxe (which includes state)! Where is the logic in that, TurboTax? I feel like I was unknowling charged more, when I needed less from the program. To be more clear and truthful, I think TurboTax should include 1 state download with all programs. This would allow the shopper to make the proper and educated value decision.

Turbo Tax was soooo fast & easy!

I have used Turbo Tax for 3 years now. It's extremely easy to use and understand. There is plenty of info available (for those that like all that TMI stuff) but also can be very simple and straight forward to wiz you through your taxes. This year I used the Turbo Tax basic for my Fed and then after seeing the Oregon State Tax form online (what a hassle that would have been, the form and instructions were 40 pages long - unbelievable) I decided to download and pay for the State TT software, it was well worth it and I will get a full rebate of what I paid for it. In 2009 Oregon made many tax changes and laws and TT was right on top of everything. I finished my state taxes in about 5 min (it probably would have taken me hours just to read and understand all that c**p if I didn't fall asleep first) I highly recommend Turbo Tax and will use them again next year.

Pretty Good Software

This software walked me through everything. It seems to be a fairly easy to use complete step by step process. However, it was a little difficult to figure out where to go back and change things like my direct deposit info. Also, on the final review, under amounts entered, my income was blank. It didn't cause any miscalculations or anything, it just looked odd. One improvement that I would like to see is that when you save all the forms and worksheets, that somewhere in the PDF it would be nice to have a list of which of them are the ones actually required to file the return.

I live in Texas and last year a certain percentage of my income was rated as sales tax since we do not pay state income tax and that was deductable.. Definitive answer did that go away?
