I like the RTi/Rtia series soundwise but I question the build quality. I had RTi10's that developed rattle around the port tubes & now a brand new RTiA9 comes with the thing completely snapped off.

Are there better speakers out there, yes, there are! Do you need better speakers than these? Absolutely not, unless you run a recording studio (and even then you may think twice about getting something "better"). These puppies will handle just about anything and sound amazing. Great sound, amazing quality and absolutely outstanding experience all around. My conservative set up contains the following items: Yamaha AS-501 Integrated Amp Yamaha CD-S300 - Single-disc CD player Audio-Technica ATLP120XUSB Direct Drive Turntable 2 RTIA9's Nakamichi Bi-wire speaker cables

I have owned hundred of pairs of speakers. I've experienced a little bit of everything, from Jamo's to Maggies, JBL's to Tannoys, and many many more. I have been blessed to have done so, and I don't take it for granite. I had a chance to buy a pair of these Polk RTiA9's, at a great price, and took it. These speakers are amazing! Love at first listen, and they're not even broken in yet!. I loved the sound so much I bought two more pair, so that I could have 3 on each side. I only purchased so many, because I bought them all on discount. I got them for $800 per pair, taxes in. That's $7500 worth of speakers for $2400! Where it would have cost me $2400 for one pair! I am running them with 2 REL subs, the sound is truly amazing.

Have had these Polk towers for two years and absolutely love them! Great sound for home theatre and music. As others have commented, these speakers need power. I am using a Crown XLS 2502 to power these speakers and the Crown manages the task easily.
The big advantage of the Crown is lower cost. The disadvantage of Crown amps is that they simply amplify what they are given. There is no shaping of the music like you might get from a more expensive audiophile amp. Feed Apple Music via the pre-out on an AVR and you will get a very flat sound on the Polks via the Crown,
The two changes I have made that make these speakers shine is giving up on Apple Music (this wasn’t easy as I am a huge Apple fan) and switching to the HiFi quality Tidal service streamed from a Sonos Port into a Schiit Freya+ Pre-amp. And from the Freya+ into the Crown. Wow!! Amazing!

I'm running these on a Art sla2 amp, 200 watts rms per channel. paired with a 2 channel Marantz nr1200 receiver powering monitor audio silver 100's . only complaint is, they are actually 200 watts rms 500 watts max. The 3x 7" woofers are base drivers, not woofers! the Polks, lacked that deep woofer mid-voice. BUT... for typical setting 5.1 +, they would sound great, My 2 channel stereo setup only sounds good due to my 2-way bookshelfs filling in what the polks miss. I have bi-amped them, lack of info of what wattage the upper and lowers can handle( like all speakers). uppers 100- 140 ish lowers 100- 200 ish . excellent buy if you can get them on sale for 400-500 each.
