because it uses less water than a traditional washer, I have found that I need to be careful with the washer cycle selected. If there are big jackets, and I select permanent press, clothes often come out with stains still on. Switching to sports or bulk helps.

We are very happy to date w/our NEW purchase, and the A+ quality job it does in cleaning our family laundry. It does have a "unfamiliar sound" that we do not recognize in comparison to your average washing machine that we have used most of our life. We are assuming that it is normal! Thank you Whirlpool.

My first HE--still a Top load

I bought this washer about a month ago, to replace a 20yr old conventional washer. I don't do as many as three loads a week, except for the first week I bought it. I haven't used it enough to know if it cleans better than my old one. I bought the clear lid and I must say I have been watching what it does. It appears to be more gentle on the clothes, certainly it uses less water. But given that the cycle takes more than twice as long, I suspect electric usage isn't improved. Given the high speed, the spinning drum has some work to do to balance the load. It makes me think of how much potential there is for repairs. But I haven't had any yet.

I did a lot of research on washers and was skeptical about a washer without an agitator. Other concerns were reviews about not getting clothes clean, leaving soap residue, or tangling clothes. If you use the right amount of liquid detergent made for HE washers, you will not have soap residue on dark clothes. The tangling of clothes more than those of one with an agitator is not an issue especially if you mix some shorter items with long ones, such as pants. I have a clear top and watching the cycles is interesting, and gives you an understanding of how it washes the clothes with liitle detergent. My only concern now is all the working parts, but time will tell. Overall, it's a great washer! I am sorry I waited so long!

learning curve

Washers have changed drastically in the 30 years since I bought my recently deceased one. I am all for saving water, and did a lot of research on washers, but it is hard to trust that low water and detergent can really clean clothes. That said, I have learned to read the instructions and play my new Whirlpool like a finely tuned instrument, educating family, sorting loads, choosing the best cycle fit for the type, being patient and planning for the increased time needed to prepare and run loads, and trusting that lots of technology and testing went into producing the machine. I even stood over it with a flashlight through the glass lid to learn it's modus operandi (but why is the glass smoked? And my model does not have a light, though some do). In the end, I like the results I get, and the large capacity for comforters, etc., though I wish I had got a "Spin only" option. I have a concern about where the lint and pet hair ends up and will it build up in the machine and damage it, because my old washer filtered it out in the agitator post. So I do clean it regularly with the Affresh. I hope it lasts for as many years as my old washer.

Super Size Capacity

Got this washer about 2 months ago. The load capacity is tremendous. I can now get most of my laundry done in 1 load. The deep water cleaning feature is great for washing bedding. Also uses a very minimal amount of soap which saves lots of money. My husband is so impressed with the washing machine that he will actually just sit & watch what is happening through the smoked glass lid.He even volunteers to do laundry now. LOVE this washer.
