Best Copier / Scanner for Home Office

Within the last year I have purchased two MFC-8890DW systems for myself and my daughter.
The wireless function works flawlessly with my PC laptop, my MAC and my IPAD2.
Print quality is excellent even in the toner save mode. The scanning function is outstanding with forwarding to file and email and will handle letter and legal sizes. I recommend this for both home and small office. Above all - it is reliable!

8890DW to replace 8440

After having quite a time getting this to work with Windows 7, I finally have it up and working and it seems like a really nice updated version of my venerable mfc 8440 that has served me well for about 8 years (and still works and will be a backup printer). What I am astonished about - for a printer that seems to have covered all the bases: network scan/print/fax and duplexing on all fronts. How on earth could it not have caller ID to show you who is calling? My 8+ year old 8440 does it but this one (seemingly the top of the line does) doesnt show you that you are even getting call until you hearit pick up nor does it show who is calling which is often helpful when receiving a fax.. Because of this I have to give it 4 stars

Teacher Affordable

The MFC8890 is a fantastic product! I owned two of them: one for home and one for my classroom! This monolaser printer is a great workhorse. I used both for class materials and personal stuff. Students (mine and their friends) also printed their work--drafts and final produts--from my classroom printer. I gave that one to a colleague (who acted like he won the lottery) when I retired, but I still use the other at home.

Love it!!

Am in private practice of law as sole practitioner. For years had separate printer, fax and copier. When I recently needed a new copier it was hard to find one so I finally broke down and bought Brother Laser All-in-One. It has made my life so much easier. I like the fact that I can copy and print so simply, especially in duplex. The fax is a breeze too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Needs Windows 8 driver

Print function is available for Windows 8, but the product lacks the full Multifunction Center software (scanning, etc.) for Windows 8.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased this machine to use in my room as a classroom teacher. The first machine I purchased continually jammed. I returned it to the store where it was purchase, and they gave me another brand new one. I brought it to class and same results all over again. This new machine continually jammed like the first new machine. I called customer service and went through all the instructions to "correct" the problem; nothing did. Service rep told me they would send me a "reconditioned" machine within 5 days. Days passed-no machine. I finally called back and there was no record I had ever called in the first place. Of course, now I had to go through all the "fix it instructions" again. Still no luck. Again, I was told I would receive a "reconditioned" machine within 5 days. Finally, I did and the "reconditioned" machine works beautifully. My guess is that there was something wrong in all of the earlier produced machines since they had so many "reconditioned" machines to offer. Anyway, machine works great so far in my classroom-NOW.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Quality All-in-One

Although I've only had it for a few days, it's speed, quietness, and ease of setup far exceeded a competitor's All-in-One. Of note, the PC-Fax (once set up) is fantastic in that I can get both a pc file and the printed fax. Print speeds are great, duplex feed and printing work flawlessly. My only complaint is the way it doesn't like envelopes. It crinkles them! If there is a work around or attachment (I tried the straight through output) I would very much appreciate it.

This is the best performing All-In-One I have ever owned. Has all the features anyone could need and is easy to operate. Duplex printing from the ADF was the feature that really sold me on this product.
