I wanted to like it, but...

I love the thermal carafe, and the display is nice, but that's about it. The removable water reservoir is awkward to use, and I've dropped it twice trying to get it to line up properly installing it. That's not as fun as it sounds, especially when it's O'dark:thirty in the morning. The side load coffee cartridge is nice, except the lid holding the chlorine filter gets in the way when I dump it out, and the spent filter ends up rolling out the wrong way and dumping the grounds on the rim of the trash bag. That sucks, but at least it isn't a jug of water! It does brew very quickly, but that means the brew is weak because the grounds don't soak long enough for a truly full flavor. That means you have to add a little bit more to the basket, which will then overflow and end up in the bottom of the pot.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing!

I bought my Mr. Coffee Optimal Brew 10-Cup with Thermal Carafe about a year ago. It is amazing! It brews in 3 minutes and the water/coffee stays hot all day long. I've even had it be merely luke-warm the following day! Also that optimal brew is not a tease. It really is the optimal brewed coffee for the best flavor! I will buy this again if anything ever happens to mine. :-)

Overflows and makes a MESS!

Machine quickly brews great coffee-IF you brew just a few cups. If you brew 10 cups you will have an overflow mess with grounds and water all over the counter. My experience identical to several other reviews. Don’t waste your money on this coffeemaker.

This is a great coffee maker and one that we've received a lot of positive feedback on and we would love to turn this experience around for you. If you noticing that you wind up with grounds in your brewed coffee maker, there may be a couple causes: 1) The paper filter may be collapsing during use, or 2) The pause and serve hinge is not operating correctly. If the paper filter is collapsing, we recommend slightly dampening the edges so that it adheres to the brew basket or you can use our GTF2-RB2 permanent filter instead of paper filters. If this is not an issue for you, then the cause may be the pause and serve. When this hinge works correctly, it will stop the flow of coffee for up to 90 seconds, allowing you to pour a cup of coffee mid-brew. If it's malfunctioning, coffee cannot drain into the decanter quickly enough and so it will flood the brew basket area and overflow from there. Please give our customer care team a call at 1-800-672-6333 for assistance with your coffee maker. Our specialists can be reached between the hours of 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, EST, Monday through Saturday. Horrible, just horrible!

I bought this and 2 other Mr. Coffee products this year alone! All 3 just stopped working within 2 months, just long enough to toss the box and receipt.
This machine will not brew more than 4 cups at a time, anything more and it leaks half a pot onto the counter AND the coffee is see-through!!! Yuk!
I'm done with this horrible company!

This is another great MR COFFEE product I use mine every day! Got my 93 year old mom one for her room at assisted living she used it every day too! Works great for places where a hotplate bottom is not allowed turns off when coffee is brewed don't have to worry about DID I turn off my coffee maker!!!

We have only praise for this coffee maker. Easy to use, fits nicely on counter under wall cabinets, coffee stays hot in caraf. AND it makes the best coffee!

I have one at home and work. I use scheduled brewing at home and on demand at the office. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for an hour or so. I love it. Easy to use and makes a really good cup of coffee. I like the two hour beep as well because it lets me know it is time to brew more coffee.

The brew time for this coffee maker is about 6 minutes for a full pot, the fastest one I've used. The coffee is hot and the thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for over 2 hours. The filters take the chlorine taste completely out of our water. I bought one for home, used it for a year and love it so much I bought a second for our summer home. I highly recommend it.
