Cleanable with no hot plate cooking the coffee

Have this for nearly 4 years. Excellent. One of the few you can get nearly clean with removable reservoir.
Had karafe improperly installed once and it will leak off since the top is not open.
I would recommend this to a friend!

i want to know how to clean the thermal carafe out it smells like old coffee when you take the top off
Response from mrcoffee.comBy Mr. Coffee, Customer Service, July 18, 2017
You've come to the right place! Hard water can leave a whitish stain on the decanter, and coffee may then turn this stain brown. To remove decanter stains:
• Fill the decanter with a solution of equal parts water and vinegar and let the solution stand in the decanter for approximately 20 minutes.
• Discard the solution, then wash and rinse the decanter. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners that may scratch the decanter.
NOTE: Thermal decanter is not dishwasher safe.

I actually like the coffee maker. It looks good, the coffee stays hot for 1.5 hrs+, and it looks nice. It has all the features you want. The only hiccup I see is that it does leak. For some reason there is ~ 1 -2 tablespoons of made coffee under the carafe every time coffee is made. I would not buy another one because of this but will live with it for now.

Not long lasting

The good: makes good coffee, alerts to run a cleaning cycle, insulated carafe works well (pre heat first like all) The Bad: Gasket for carafe lid is too large and needs to be readjusted constantly, my display went dim after a year I can barely read it if I shade it with my hand. Too bad it's out of warranty!
I will not buy this maker again.

We bought this coffee pot about 6 months ago, for the first 3 months it was great, then it started taking longer for the coffee to brew and wouldn't use all the water. I tried cleaning it with vinegar and water numerous times but now it takes 2+ hours for the full pot of coffee to brew and half the time it isn't even hot. Time to buy a bunn!!!

Why it leaks,I've had same problem twice

On the bottom of your filter basket is a small spring and plastic button. This button regulates you pulling karafe out mid brew and pour a cup of coffee. When this button breaks off or damaged your coffee pot "leaks". Sadly, just experienced today AGAIN.
Response from mrcoffee.comBy Customer Service, Mr. Coffee, August 25, 2017
This is unfortunate to have happened twice to you with the brew basket spring. When the spring breaks, not only does it leak, it also doesn't keep the same coffee strength as the hot water flows quicker over the coffee grounds. We'd like to help resolve this for you. Please call us at our toll free number 800-672-6333. For your convenience we are available 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday - Saturday, EST.

Inconsistent Brew + Won't Shut Off

Long term review. Day one, followed instructions for a water only cleaning brew. Noticed it never shut itself off after water carafe was empty. Figured it was normal process for cleaning. Subsequent coffee brewing since then - it never shuts itself off even after water is expended. Heater stays on as well as yellow brewing light. SO, we decided to live with it and turn it off manually. No big deal. Per instructions we clean frequently with descale solution. Over 1.5 years of use, I felt that to get a strong brew I had to use a bit more grinds that initially. Now, today this coffee maker no longer brews correctly at all. Coffee is nearly clear / brown with minimal flavor. After several calibrated test brews with grind and amount of coffee per instructions, I noted that the brew time is MUCH faster than when we first got this maker. I have surmised that for whatever reason, the water into the filter basket is flowing much faster / larger volume and is over-running the grinds and passing through the gold permanent filter basket above the coffee grinds, thus not all passing through it. I can't think of a way to fix this without manufacturer's service to take it apart and look at the heater / flow system. Not worth it. I can't recommend this maker and I'm dissatisfied with this low level of quality / longevity.

Your experience with our Mr. Coffee coffeemaker is not normal, especially with the Optimal Brew PSTX series. We'd like to take the opportunity to assist you get back to brewing regular coffee with the PSTX.
First, the coffeemaker lights stay on for 2 hours to let you know how long it has been since the coffeemaker finished brewing as part of the Fresh Brew Timer feature. Since this has a thermal carafe, the warming plate does not heat at all as the thermal carafe is what controls the temperature of the coffee for up to 2 hours.
The coffee could be running through the grounds quicker due to an issue with the brew basket. If the spring on the bottom of the brew basket is loose or missing, the water is not controlled by the pump, but it drains out as soon as it hits the coffee grounds. We'd like to help you get back to brewing your coffee with the right strength that you are used to. Please contact us via our Live Chat on our website between 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday - Saturday, EST. They will be glad to gather your information to send you out a replacement brew basket.
