Our office was tired of coming in on Monday and no coffee was ready, we had to wait for it.. Monday is not a good day to wait for coffee. I purchased the Mr. Coffee smart brew and it is the best money I have ever spent.. I love it and I love how the Carafe keeps the coffee hot even after the warmer cuts off.. It is a must have for sure!

After a month's use -
Brew temperature is 185 degrees maximum, not the 200+ promoted;
Carafe is o.k. – loss of about 10 degrees an hour, not glass lined;
A bit more steam then I expected/wanted vented underneath my cabinet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wastes a lot of coffee

I bought this coffee maker from target about 5 months ago. The first few months everything was great. I liked that everything was detachable and very easy to use, but then I started to notice that my coffee was coming out really weak, even though I had added enough coffee to make a strong cup. Upon closer inspection I noticed that only 1/2 the coffee in the basket was wet! Now I just feel like I'm wasting a lot of coffee to make really weak coffee.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best Coffeemaker I've ever had!

I bought this coffeemaker about 3 months ago. From day -1 I couldn't believe how delicious the coffee is! I have always used bottled purified water to make coffee - we have very hard tap water and a whole-house water softener, so no drinking out of the tap for us! This machine is fast, coffee is wonderful, and I don't have to worry about forgetting a glass carafe on the burner and having the carafe burn up. I get up over an hour before my hubby, and we both enjoy our hot delicious coffee when we get up. The carafe is great...not having to worry about breaking a glass one is a small but important feature for us. Hubby even said the other day, that he likes our coffee better at home than out at a restaurant! Thank you Mr Coffee! I highly recommend this coffeemaker!

The BEST (almost) designed Coffee Maker made!!

The reason I am writing is due to my stupidity not a design defect (see below)
First - I love this coffee maker and as an engineer with a few patents I can say it is very well designed ergonomically. The coffee is loaded in an easily pulled out from the side drawer with a lid and the tank easily removes by lifting off the light well fitting flat small lid and then grabbing the clear rectangular water tank's molded in handle in the back and lifting vertically just an inch or less to unhook it - BOTH adding water and coffee - without moving the coffee maker -
MOST of the MANY other models I have had require pulling out from under the cabinet just to get the door open for either adding coffee or water and some make you fill up the pot then dump it into a tank thats built into the body of the machine.
The basket lid opens easy and you can set it on the counter to add coffee (i grind my own) but it would be nice if it didn't tip over leaning to one side when it's open - maybe add a small leg under the basket?
and I love how the carafe fits under a circular hood that minimizes spills and heat loss - and the stainless steel vacuum carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours after the 2 hour hot coffee timer beeps.
and I like the easy controls to set the delay time and the clock (which does seem to tolerate a short power outage without losing settings) as we do get frequent power losses being at the end of the line here in the hills of western Pa.
and the water filter is easy to replace (even though our water is very good here)
which brings me to the problem I have and which I suspect is the real reason others are experiencing spilling all over the counter -
I am so used to coffee makers that USE THE POT TO ADD WATER that I forget to dump out any coffee left in the pot since you just lift off the tank and fill it up AND NOT BEING A MORNING PERSON I am also very used to setting the delay timer so my coffee is hot and ready in the morning WHICH I NEED and love TO WAKE UP.
If you forget to empty the pot the night before - instead of just pouring a fresh hot cup of coffee - you awaken to a countertop filled with the overflow that the pot had in it that displaced the just brewed coffee.
Now I admit its my fault for not emptying the pot but I HAVE DONE THIS NOW AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES. - Since you don't have to even touch the pot when you set it up you don't think to check it to make sure it's empty.
WHY CAN'T YOU GUYS ADD SOME SENSOR that weighs the pot to make sure it's empty - (I noticed that you can't turn it on without the tank in place)
If you could do that and maybe add a little leg to the basket - IT WOULD BE PERFECT!!
ps I have never had any problem with the lever that shuts off the coffee while brewing - maybe the other people that had leaks really just forgot to empty their pots ?

Great coffee maker

I bought this coffee maker about one month ago. Was reluctant due to the reviews, but I had bought one for my daughter-in-law last Christmas and she loves hers. I have to agree. After a month I couldn't be happier. However, my daughter-in-law nor I use the filter due to country water, so that may be why others have problems and we do not. It does not spill at all when you pour; first coffee maker I have had in 40 years that did not.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this two months ago and the coffee from it taste funky, I'm not really happy with the quality of the coffee. :-( The features all work fine, I do like the easy programmable feature. I just don't like the taste of the coffee.
