Quit working within a couple of months

This mop worked pretty good for the first month or so. Eventually it quit making steam...it would sputter a bit and make a little bit of steam but not much. If I took the filter out and then put it back in and it would work for a while. I thought maybe the filter was bad...maybe it wasn't fitting tight or something so I ordered a new filter. But...that didn't fix the problem either. I've gone back to a mop and bucket.

Your Steam Mop Deluxe should steam easily. If you are experiencing a lack of steam or it is reduced, the nozzle may be blocked. To remedy, unplug the unit, remove the swivel head from the lower body and pour vinegar through the center tube of the swivel head "neck". Clear the nozzle by inserting a paper clip into the brass spray tip located in the bottom of the lower body.
Also, to ensure optimum performance you should use distilled or demineralized water and change the filter when needed. Change the filter when the bright green grains turn blue. If the filter is not changed at the appropriate time, calcium deposits will accumulate on the heating element, causing damage or reduced performance.

New Steam Mop Deluxe - leaks around filter and water bottle

We use steam mops to clean our hardwood floors, they work great when they work. We started with a Shar** unit until it finally gave out. Along the way, we learned that you have to use distilled or demineralized water or they will plug up. Nonetheless, after the Shar** died, we wanted to try a better unit and so choose the Bissell 8482 Steam Mop. It worked great for several months. Now it leaks...no make that water runs...from the area where the water bottle attaches to the filter or from where the filter attaches to the main body. We've ordered a new water bottle, a new filter, cleaned the nozzle, cleaned the mop head sprayers and continue to use only distilled water. After a few uses, it starts to leak again. Very disappointed in Bissell, as an engineer, I can tell you there is a design flaw here.

This is my first steam mop purchase. I have no complaints, it did the job I wanted it to do. I have a pet and I want the steam to kill germs and refresh my carpet which she is always rolling on. I am well pleased.

I actually asked for this thing for a Christmas gift. I am on my 2nd steam mop because the 1st one came with a European plug and I live in Texas. Buyer's remorse x 2!!
