Touch Screen Problems
on November 21, 2010

Three Times The Touch pad on my phone has gone out, and I've have it only for a year. Research revealed this is a common problem with this phone. Why Samsung has not recalled them, is beyond me.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PHONE!!!!!!!!!

Let me tell you the problems. Extremely poor reception. Since I purchased this phone I would average 0 to 1 bars of reception. I was standing next to a customer rep at the carrier's store and he had full bars, but this phone kept bouncing between 0 and 1 bar, with 0 being the most shown. The phone would just stop sending text messages and would have to be rebooted. It would also stop vibrating and turn the sound off to any feature that used these two things, and have to be rebooted. Also, the battery life was a day at best, before having to be recharged. This was with only minimal use. HOWEVER, it does have some nice things going for it like the touch screen and some of the apps. I purchased two of these phones at the same time. The first two I returned due to problems and received exchanges. These second two I couldn't return for credit, because my 30 days had expired. I've returned them to Samsung under warranty repair after owning them for only 5 months and I have my finger's crossed they will be working correctly when I get them back. Nothing like buying a phone that you can't use as a phone, or trust as an alarm, or know your text messages have been sent.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, as a phone it's terrible.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just terrible

I have always been a believer in Samsung products and have recommended them many times, now after having this phone i just don't know anymore...
Problems started when some of the keys on the qwerty stopped working so I had the phone replaced. Then about 2 months later some of the keys on the qwerty, I would press once but the phone thought I hit it twice so i had to keep editing texts. That was especially annoying when double hitting the space bar adds a period. So I had it replaced again.
Now a couple months later the touch screen has stopped working....
Sadly this phone has become a very frustrating device. especially because I always baby my electronics. Phone has never been dropped and doesn't have a scratch on it.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very disappointed in the Impression

When the touchscreen on my LG Xenon finally gave up, I thought I would "upgrade" to a Samsung Impression. I'm a big fan of Samsung products overall, but WOW was this one a swing and a miss!
The phone itself is a good size (though a bit bigger than the Xenon, it's still significantly smaller than the Epic) and the features are good (if they would WORK all the time), but what made me go back to the LG Xenon after only having the Impression a few months was that the phone FREEZES up without warning for no reason.
EVERY time I would go into my pictures folder, the phone would freeze. EVERY time I would turn on the camera to take a picture, the phone would freeze. I say EVERY time and I mean every single time without fail. So I have to wait for the phone to reboot so I can use it. I finally got so frustrated I gave up altogether.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: freezes up
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have to turn it of at LEAST three times a day when sending a message. Both keyboards broke after 9 months. I can not accept calls. The speakers went out three months after I got the phone.
Cons: Poor quality, Too big, Did not meet expectations, keyboard went out in 6 months, speaker went out in three months
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointed
on May 4, 2011

I was very happy with this phone with the exception of the screen lock switch (difficult to depress) for the first 9 months of ownership but then my touchscreen stopped working. It was replaced with a refurbished model by my wireless provider and again flawless service for another 6 months with the same problem. I researched several internet forums about this and found this was a common problem which apparently is caused by opening the slider to access the keyboard which causes a wire to crimp. Once the touchscreen stops working, the phone is basically useless for anything except receiving a phone call. This is troubling to me because I am not a heavy text messager yet both my phones failed to last a year. My wife has the Samsung Mythic which is not a slider phone and is 100% touchscreen and it has worked flawlessly for 18 months now.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
