Good Idea HORRIBLE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
on February 15, 2012

I really liked the idea of this phone but my expectations fell very short. After a short period of time the texting became very annoying. Every time you type a letter it would type it about five extra times or not at all. For example I tried to say "I'm on my way." but instead it said "Iii'm nnnn mmy wwyyy" No wonder people wouldn't respond they had no idea what i was saying! Recently I tried to edit my favorites but it wouldn't let me select any of them to delete. Also after about a year and a half my screen has started to break off of where it connects to the keyboard. The phone its self is very big and bulky and very very VERY heavy. Overall this phone is a big plastic piece of ''crud''. I am SOO excited my contract is almost over so i can get a better phone. I would rather have a flip phone over this ''crud''.
Pros: none
Cons: Poor quality, Too big, Did not meet expectations, horrible texting, bulky, heavy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

i think this is one of samsung's best non-android phones out there, touch screen + keyboard = awesome.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight, it's a samsung ;)

Good phone has a few issues

Let me start off by saying overall it is a great phone. The sound quality is clear and as an MP3 player it works great. I would recommend this phone as long as the issues below won't bother you. Everything is laid out in a logical manner and nothing is too difficult to find. The speaker volume is great! I actually had to turn it down because other people were hearing my conversation. The samsugn PC Studio is a great program and makes adding audio files or anything else to your phone a breeze. The QWERTY pull out keyboard is great. The buttons are larger than most phones making it a lot easier and more comfortable to hit the buttons you want.
1. Your custom ringtones must be under 300 kb which is kind of irritating but not a huge deal. There are several websites which will create a ringtone for you and with a little playing around can meet this requirement (note: this does not apply to MP3 player; as far as I can tell they can be any size and are fairly versatile on the audio format it will play)
2. As everyone has mentioned the lock button is not in a convenient location but you get used to it after a while and sliding out the keyboard will also unlock the phone.
3. The screen saver pictures that pop up when the phone is locked cannot be changed. That is one of the most irritating things, as I would like for my home pictures to be the screen saver picture. Maybe samsung could fix this with a software update or something (wink wink hint hint Samsung) note: the wallpaper is still customizable
4. Widget bar is not truly customizable. You can customize which samsung widgets you want but I have yet to figure out how to make my own widgets, however there may be a way and I just haven't found it yet, which brings me to the last point
5. The "instruction" cd is nothing but a link to their website! Not even to the actual instruction manual PDF or anything useful like that just to their homepage as far as I can tell. This was the most frustrating part. So be forwarned that before you order this phone make sure you are comfortable with using the internet or your own intuition to figure out how to use the phone. Now, with that being said the phone is laid in what I though was a logical manner and nothing so far has been terribly difficult to find.
So some concluding thoughts; overall it is a great phone and has some great features and I am very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone who has no special problem with the problems mentioned above.

Really nice phone

So, I've got a beautiful 6 month old daughter that I have taken literally hundreds of pictures of. Problem is, the phone I was carrying around had a TERRIBLE display so I couldn't show her off to all my friends and family. Well, to solve that problem I started looking for a new phone with a really nice display. I found that phone in the Samsung Impression. I got the phone last week as a birthday present to myself. So far I've been very happy with my purchase. This is my first touch screen phone and my first phone with the QWERTY style keyboard. The display is absolutely beautiful. Best that I've ever seen, hands down. I'm enjoying the touch screen, though it works a little differently than I had anticipated. Maybe I've seen to many iPhone commercials, but I expected things like scrolling and moving from screen to screen to be a little more smooth and seamless. I probably just need more practice. It's still better than my old phone so I can't complain too much. As for the QWERTY, so far so good. I'm re-learning how to text w/o the T9 feature. Again, any difficulty I'm having is likely just a learning curve on my part and should not reflect on the quality of the phone.
Now, for the things I'm not so crazy about...as of right now, the "customizable widget bar" seems to be not so customizable. For one, I can't find any widgets at all. I'd like to have widgets for the things I want quick access to like facebook or an RSS News feed. And, as of right now, the only "customizing" I can do is add pre-programed things to or take pre-programed things off of the widget bar. Basically, at this point, it's not as customizable as they would like you to believe. Maybe as time passes and more widgets and software updates come out, the utility will be truly customizable. Here's hoping so.
And lastly, all the complaints about the location of the lock/unlock button are 100% right on. I have the phone set to lock after a few seconds of idle time, so that's not really an issue, but unlocking the thing is a HUGE pain. Definitely a two-hand operation. Pressing the button with the thumb of the hand you are holding the phone with is virtually impossible. Really, really bad design. It's easier to slide the keyboard out and close it really fast as this unlocks the phone also. Other than that, I'm very happy with my new phone and hope to use it for a long time. I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone interested in upgrading from a flip phone or a non-touchscreen phone.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awesome phone

The screen is awesome, the sound is great. For anyone having issues unlocking the phone, just slide open the keyboard, way faster than holding down that unlock button. Transfer speeds are blazing, whether i'm using USB or Bluetooth. The display is lifelike, the touchscreen is much more durable than I predicted. Some people say there is no speed dial, but there is a speed dial feature, i guess they just didnt take a look into their widget bar. The only issue I had with the phone is that it is impossible to install your own java applications. I will be trying again once i get my microSD card.
Battery life isn't as bad as everybody reports either. Sure, it probably couldn't go a week without charging like my old phone, but I use it alot more too, and it's got plenty of onboard memory, plays mp3s, and you can even select different equalizer settings between rock, pop, classic, jazz, dynamic, and wide or something like that. It's a great phone and I love it!
o yea the 3MP camera takes nice pictures as well, i just wish it had some games to play that aren't demos since my internet is disabled.
I would recommend this to a friend!

have had this phone for about two months and it is the best phone i have had to date. i got this one to replace my two year old Motorola Razor. the slide out keyboard makes text messaging a breeze. it's only frozen up on me once. the battery life could be better but i"m used to charging every night anyhow. a flash and better zoom would be nice. overall one great phone. if you are considering one go get it you wont be sorry.
I would recommend this to a friend!

10 Flaws

Texting:
1)The phone has a maximum typing speed of about 35wpm on the first page of a text and a maximum of about 5wpm by the sixth page. If you type faster than that, the phone will not register keystrokes.
2)The phone will display "Fn" when the function key is not in effect and will use the function key when "Fn" is not displayed.
3)The. Phone will randomly. Insert periods. After words,. So you need. To retype sentences and parts of. Sentences.
4)When the phone is turning on, one must wait several minutes before using messaging. This is especially annoying because (see #1) one must often restart the phone in order to send and receive messages.
Other:
5) The phone oftentimes requires restarts in order to function properly; on the scale of 1-5 per day.
6) The internet browser is hardly functional and very rudimentary.
7) The software on the phone has lots of obvious and simple flaws and has NEVER seen an update (client is version 1.0.0)
8) The phone has poor software design: the favorites cannot be fully customized and cannot be re-ordered. Similarly, the background can not be changed from the target picture; one must go through a series of menus.
9) The phone is not application friendly.
10) The phone is very rigid and not very open to customization.
On the other hand, it is aesthetically pleasing and the keyboard isn't too difficult to get a hang of.
Because of the development failures of this device, I won't be buying a Sumsung in the future.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
