Performs as advertised

An excellent machine with plenty of flexibility. Be sure you install it at heights and distances required. Mine is installed at 7 feet above the floor (3' down from ceiling) and 11 feet from screen. At these dimensions it fills a 100" screen nicely. At 1800 Lumens it definitely needs a DARK room. Picture quality, controls, on-screen menus are all excellent.

This projector lasted 1050 hours before the bulb exploded, but during that time it was beyond amazing. the colors and brightness were epic and the unit itself is almost silent. I got unlucky with the bulb, but it's beyond worth it :)

The Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 8100 Projector is an excellent projector. I shopped around and looked at several different options before deciding to purchase this projector. I am using a Screen Innovations Screen and the picture is very crisp and clear. This projector is also very quiet and you can barely tell it is even on. I am very happy with the purchase and would purchase again.

Good Projector - Lamp died after 6 months

Initially really liked this projector, for the money, very good picture quality, however with very nominal use, our lamp died on us within about 6 months. Ofcourse it's only warrantied for 90 days.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my first projector and compared to my friends 720p projector which was same price. This thing is amazing. You don't have to worry about pitch dark with the 8100. I watch UFC with friend and family in a fully lit room with excellent color and brightness. Sunlight effects picture like all projectors but ambient light has little effect with all the settings you can use.first bulb only lasted 500 hours which seems to be common with ones shipped with projector. Epson has done the right thing and covered replacement bulb for duration of warrante. I've now got 3000 hours on new bulb. Great customer support with private pin number that comes with 8100 making customer service a breeze
