Looks are not everything

I have owned replacement refrigerator for a little over a year. I love the taste of the water and the ice. It's a beautiful unit with lots of storage. While my favorite part is the huge middle drawer with the temperature control although it is easy to freeze things. This has been one of the worst experiences I have had with a new appliance. My first refrigerator arrived looking operational however the compressor never worked. It took three months to get it replaced. The second one looked beautiful; however the doors were damaged from the top and would not align. So they changed the doors. The ice maker has been rebuilt, upgraded and replaced over 7 separate incidences. The ice maker would only work for about 6 to 8 weeks before needing service. I have yet to see a full bucket of ice. The compressors sounds like a swarm of bees and the ice is noisy. While the stainless steel is lovely, the plastic trim is cracking and falling apart in areas that see no wear and tear. The service department has been great. They know me on a first name basis. They even extended my warrantee for year to help compensate. It does look good in my kitchen.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

problems with refrigerator

The frig is not a year old and we have had the computer memory board replaced, the hinge of the right door, the ice maker has broken three times and the water dispenser has stopped 2 times and restarted. I had this frig originally but the whole frig had to be replaced.

It's been 21 years since I bought a refrigerator. We'd been looking for more than a year. They were either too expensive or too cheaply made for the money. We went to ABT prepared to be disappointed, again. The sales rep on the phone had said that people seemed to really love the Electrolux. What can I say! It is a great refrigerator. Many items that would have been trashed after a week in the old refrigerator are still fresh after a month in this one, so it's saving us money. The lighting system is perfect. The lights gradually go on and they are LED, not glaring. Even the freezer light is great. The two problems: 1- and this is a biggie - the ice SHOOTS out of the dispenser. We need to keep the glass right at the top and even then we will have ice on the floor feet away from the refrigerator. We've had service in a few times - no joy. We have a rug on the kitchen floor which prevents us from slipping on the ice as it melts, but it is a definite problem that needs to be addressed. ABT pulled them off the floor because of this problem and only the Electrolux display kitchen shows the refrigerator. 1- the freezer drawers can come off their glides, making the refrigerator impossible to close until you figure out the problem.
Even wiuth this, I love the refrigerator. I sometimes hug it I'm so pleased with the room, the features, the lighting, its appearance.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Like the Refrigerator, hate the icemaker

The icemaker is horribly flawed. We have had multiple visits from authorized service repair technicians trying to fix the icemaker ever since we brought the refrigerator . They have installed the repair kits (twice) but over time (3 months or so) the ice maker freezes up and stops working, The technician has told me that it is a design flaw and he spends alot of his time fixing this model around Los Angeles. He has even had electrolux technicians on the phone discusses possible other fixes (e.g. caulking between icemaker tray and frig inside ceiling) I have watched him the last three times he has fixed the icemaker. He uses a hair dryer to melt the ice build-up on the icemaker gears and that seems to do the trick (until another 3 months). I have now resorted to melting the ice periodically to prevent the ice build up that presents the gears from turning.
Other than that major major flaw, the rest of the refrigerator has worked well and is quite roomy and well lit. If they icemaker worked consistently, I would give the Refrigerator a 5 star rating. The service warranty has been prompt and has shown concern. However, it is getting quite old having the icemaker go out every 3-4 months and calling someone in to blow dry the icemaker.

I will say that the refrigerator and freezer work great. Its the Ice Maker that is the problem. Mine has been worked on twice and now it is out of warranty. It does not put out a great quantity of ice. If you have a large family this ice maker won't cut it. I would think for the price of this fridge it would spit out ice cubes like a snowblower in Boston.

It's great!

We love everything about this fridge; the size, space, look, everything. The Perfect Temp drawer is the most amazing: beer is ice cold, wines are perfect, cheese and deli meats last a lot longer. The only down side is that the beautiful Wave Touch control panel has been replaced 3 times, along with various other system boards. This was the toughest let down for such an awesome appliance.

Worst Refrigerator

Wrost purchase I have ever made. Its just an expensive piece of steel. Day1 after delivery it does not make any ice and they had to replace the whole unit within first week. The doors won't align properly and made popping sounds when opening. The door finally was fixed after couple of visits from technicians and new parts from Electrolux. The biggest problem in this unit is the ICE MAKER. IT does not make ICE. The whole assembly and the contraol bord has been replaced six times in one and a half years and it breaks after couple of months of replacement. Even the technicians that come out are tired of this model. I have bought few other Electrolux appliances and had issues with them as well but not as bad as this unit. My advice would be to spend the money on different unit.....

We purchased this just under one year ago and have averaged a repairman to our home every other month. The ice cube maker freezes up and stops making ice. They have replaced control units, installed upgrades, extra insulation etc but so far to no avail. The ice cube maker is in the refrigator instead of the freezer and the effects of that unit being there were not thought out well. This has been nothing short of unacceptable performance.
