Good but not perfect

Good print quality. Good speed. Easy ink cartridge replacement. I don't like the paper feed system for several reasons. You can't see if you have paper, you have to fold up the paper catcher to get to the paper tray, and the paper tray is difficult to pull out and push in and feels like it could easily break.

Epson WiFi worked
on March 1, 2010

I bought the Epson to replace a printer that claimed low ink prices. Tried another brand first but couldn't get the WiFi working.
My Aritsan 710 worked on my home wireless network out of the box with no setup problems. Functionally it works great. I have used the scan capabilities over my wireless connection as well as printing daily. No problems with either. Print quality is excellent on documents as well as on photos. I like having a seperate paper tray for photo paper and I especially like the duplexer for double sided printing. I have not tried to print a CD.
The paper handling seem a bit flimsy especially the output "tray" - just a couple of thin pieces of plastic. This is the only part I view with concern.
As for ink - although the ink cartridges cost a little more than the ones for my old printer, I am getting MUCH more life from them. I believe my actual cost of ink will be less because I do not have to replace the cartridges nearly as often as I did.
Excellent value printer!

Very Satisfied!

I had previously owned an Epson printer and I was very happy with it but I wanted another with more features. I bought the Artisan 710 and had some problems in the beginning when I went to set up so I called their support and they worked with me until we got everything set up....I love my new printer and all the cool features. I would buy an Epson again.

Print quality is on par with expectations, though with Epson 5* glossy, i've had a number of artifacts on two of four 8x10 prints. For a home print job, I find this acceptable since the artifacts don't detract too much from the overall image. This printer will only be used for larger prints.
I printed out a 280 page manual for my neighbor - the job was stunningly easy and the duplexer, with the exception of one time, worked flawlessly. Having an issue on 1 of 140 pages printed both sides is just over 7/10ths of a percent rate of failure and is also acceptable.
Ink usage is on par w/ expectations. Having printed four photos and 280 pages, the ink level in black dropped about 1/8th t 1/5th when referencing the ink usage monitor.
Color is somewhat frustrating - have an overly bright LCD laptop screen, which makes the photo's seem dark (but only some colors). Their is not way for me to color correct my monitor, though if you can I highly recommend it as another step to ensure your expectations of your print are met.
Network setup was a breeze and took 10 minutes. It took more time to have the printer run through the start up process than it did to set up the connection. Having set up wireless connections in the past, it was simple enough to figure out without the use of the manual, having only to tell the printer what network to log into, punching in the WPA (or WEP) password, in my case finding and plugging in the MAC address into the router (will not applicable to all) and installing the software.
I have not used the scanner, nor the direct memory slots, or the cd tray. I did not buy the printer for any of those purposes.

Great Wireless Shared Printer for Price
on March 10, 2010

This printer replaced an older version of an Epson all in one printer for me and has truly pleased me in every way possible. It handles everything I can give it for the standard size printing. I love that it can be shared over the network and is wireless. It's small, The scanner is an overall good quality scanner and the ink does not run out as fast as you would expect it to. The Ink is bright and Black and Whites turn out great also.

I Bought 2

After a disasterous experience with a warrantee plan on the RX I bought an Artisan 50 because I had lots of carteidges and the Artisan 50 used the same ink, I was ready to give up on Epson. But, Epson is still the best as far as printing on CD's and DVD's, so i hung in there and tried the Artisan 710. I love it! I got a great warrantee plan, but I know that by the time my 710 dies all I'll be able to get is remans (NEVER AGAIN), so, I found an Artisan 710 for $50 less than I paid for the first one and I bought it! It's still in the box sitting in my storage room, but when my 710 dies, I got me another one!

Excellent purchase

After trying four other color-printer scanners, I purhased my Epson and am very pleased with the quality of the prints it makes of photos. I'm also very happy with the quality of images scanned into the computer, especially if the photo was taken on a very clear day with sunshine and bright colors. Those images need no "fixing" whatsoever. However, when the sky is gray and colors are more subtle, it takes a lot of "fixing" to get a suitable image. There's room for improvement in that feature.

Disappointed

I am so disappointed that I cannot put my camera photo card into the Epson Artisan 710 and save my pictures to my computer. My friend wanted to use some of my photos for our Club facebook page. My husband had to use his computer, make a CD of the photos. Then I copied those pictures from the CD to my computer to send to her via email. I guess we will use a laptop from now on to make copies of the photos. If there is another way to do this, please let me know. This is a biggy for me!
