This printer can produce exeptional photos but needs the proper paper to avoid ink running.
A sideshow is how it produces a collection of noises that is comical.

Exceeded expectations

This is a surprisingly good printer.
I've owned 7 printers and this is so far te best. Faster than i expected, good warrantee, connected up to Windows 7 64bit WiFi easily. Like legal size printing capability Two-sided printing also works well and is fast.
CD/DVD writing is a bonus.
Found controls easy to use, and it doesn't take much space. low power on standby, good instructions.

OUTSTANDING PRINTER
on September 27, 2010

I have had an Epson 710 printer for almost a year. This printer worked flawlessly no matter what I tried to print.
Photos looked very good. I have it hooked up as a network printer in my home. No problems at all to set up. Printer worked fine until cyan print head died. No warning...just died. Epson service was courteous and helpful. It took awhile on the phone with them testing the defective one. Received replacement printer and it's setting on my desk working away. I would recomment it to anyone looking for a good printer. I've been very, very satisfied with this unit and would buy Epson again!

Artisan 710 Review
on September 27, 2010

After several product comparisons during Mar/Apr 2010, I purchased the Artisan 710.
Comments:
- Duplex ONLY works with LETTER size, although LEGAL paper can fit into the tray
- The paper tray itself is -really- flimsy. Be careful loading it and placing it in the printer. Really careful. Same with the laughable output "tray".
- Do NOT mix paper types in the tray. Completely change paper types when required.
- The tilting control panel is a pain. Don't try to force it when it slips out & fixes at an odd angle. Use the little button when you find it (same colour as the case - odd).
- The scanner is ok and only LETTER size.
- The ink cartridges. Sigh. ONLY use the hi-capacity 98-series. They cost enough already that using the 99-series lo-capacity is just ridiculous.
- The printer driver is unbelievably complicated and always seems to over-ride what you thought you had set as preferences. WATCH this every time you print pictures.
- The black plastic case collects dust like crazy & scratches very easily when cleaning is attempted
So, what's good about this unit?
1. Printing on glossy LETTER paper delivers unbelievable images. The 5+Black colour cartridges produce amazing, in your face, eye-popping colours.
2. It is fast, even with the useless "fast mode" turned off.
3. The duplex works, but use thick paper (>24lb) to avoid bleed-though if printing charts & graphs.
4. Setting up on a network via a cable is a snap. All other printer companies should buy a unit & learn from Epson on this one point. Just amazingly easy.

Epson Artisan 710 All in one printer

The Epson 710 All in one printer is a great machine. The set up is easy and the installation disc gives clear and concise directions for either PC or Mac. I have mine set up on a wireless network and it is fabulous! The printing quality is very impressive and fast. The copy function is fast and clear copies are a normal result. The machine is quiet in all operating modes. The display function is very good and directions precise. The photos obtained are of professional quality and the disc making feature is easy, accurate and clearly a pleasure to use. I really am impressed with this printer and it should be considered by anyone who is thinking about replacing or buying a new printer that does it all....but FAX. (I did not need the FAXing ability)
