My Favorite Printer

I bought this printer because of the strong recommendation from my middle son to purchase the Artisan 800 and when the 810 became available and included the duplexer at a discount price I pushed the buy button. I knew that the wireless installation was going to be a nightmare and boy was I wrong - it went perfectly and was easy to do. Based on reading some other product reviews I also expected to lose some functionality with the wireless setup, such as scanning, and once again I was wrong -- everything, I mean everything works just like it was plugged into my desktop. I then loaded the software onto my laptop and that was also a breeze. I uninstalled my previous printer software on the desktop before installing the Epson printer and now my desktop boots in half the time it did before. The included duplexer makes two sided printing easy, it is fast and for the first time I now consider two sided printing as a real option. The CD/DVD printing software and how the printer does this printing is by far the best that I have used. My first CD printing effort was perfect -- and I loaded a picture of a B-17 bomber as the background for a CD full of pictures of a Veterans Day celebration that we sponsored. The touchscreen is really slick and makes talking to the printer intuitive and easy. I called my son, who is having difficulty getting a duplexer for his Artisan 800, and suggested he buy the new 810 that has the duplexer included. Additionally, I just forwarded my thoughts and links to the 810 specs to a friend who is looking for a new printer. This is a keeper. I wish I could think of a reason to buy a second one but the wireless makes it useable from any where in the house. I almost forgot to mention that they include a second bonus large volume black ink cartridge and the included Page Manager software is really helpful and easy to use - nice touch.

This printer will not print on any card stock - such as business cards or pre[packaged Avory note cards. Nothing in the product information warns you of this problem. It is the first of many Epson printers I have bought that will not print on card stock.

The 810 is a great printer, you can't find a nicer one for the price. But the cd has to be up graded. I have windows vista ,even with the driver up grades I still as not able to get the printer to work with my pc.Had to call the Geeks out to get them to figure whats rong at $ 150 The money I saved was lost and then some. buyer be we ready to spend more money, And more ink, because the ink that comes with the printer might print 7 or 8 4/6 pictures.

I own an Epson 800 series printer. If yours is using ink way too fast, go to "Setup" on the start-up panel. Then click on "Maintenance." Use the right arrow to advance to "Automatic head maintenance." This tool cleans your printer head EVERY TIME you start up your computer wasting ink. Select the "OFF" option. The Epson will then stop wasting your ink! Give it a try. I LOVE the Epson 800 series!

Not a good product

The quality for printing pictures is outstanding. Unfortunately, the paper tray and paper guides are the poorest quality of any printed I have purchased. The paper jams continually, and when printing several copies, I can only print a few at a time. The tray is thin plastic, as well as the tray which catches the printed pages. It amazes that the company made such a great printer for copying, scanning and faxing, but went to minimum level of quality when it came to the printing drawer. It is so inconvenient to load the paper, envelopes, or other size paper. If I had known that the paper drawer was so flimsy, I would not have purchased this printer. Not good for the price.l

I would not buy this printer again. The main reason being the quality of the black ink. Text appears grey instead of black. I wasn't expecting laser printer quality of black, but this was pathetic. I would never use my printer to submit text if i had to give it to someone to read professionally
I read this in a few other reviews and ignored what others said. I wish i didn't ignore them

Worst Epson piece I've ever had

I have purchased an Epson scanner and ink jet printer before and had excellent experiences. But for me, the Artisan 800 is a piece of junk. I can only fax out one page at a time (ADF never worked but it was 1 year old before I realized it). Fax recieving does work (but I can't print them either). It no longer copies or prints because the flimsy plastic cassette no longer seats correctly. I have spent many hours trying to fix. This has been a constant battle since I first started using it. I've been a professional graphic designer for 25 years so its not like I am clueless. I'm able to scan but considering this scanner is as good as my previous epson scanner that is 10 years old (and still works), I'm not overwhelmed. I got about 200 4 x 6 prints and 30 faxes out of it so its pretty pricey. I'm done with it, have wasted too much time trying to get things to work. I guess I just got a lemon. Other products have been good but not this one (at least for me)

Do not waste your money on this so called printer. It has been nothing but a source of frustration. It rarely has performed correctly. Most often it says its out of paper or wrong paper...maybe because of the sleazy construction of the paper drawer. The touch screen rots as well. It is shocking that it is on the market.
