Decent printer

I've owned my printer for several months now I use it for everything. After searching for two weeks reading reviews and such I chose the Epson 810. Once I got it the setup actually went very smooth as I followed the instructions. I am running windows 7 and had no issues upgrading the drivers. The problem I was having when printing full sized photos there were lines in them not all just a few photos I printed after copying them from the web. I have a flatbed scanner I use for my photos as no all-in-one printer will do a professional job. After using my flatbed then printing the quality was excellent!
As for the ink usage I'm still using the ink that came with the unit which I got at the end of Oct. 09 though I do need to order more.
I don't use this every day and would recommend it to others though I still suggest you do your research as everyone has different needs from a printer. Don't be afraid to contact a vendor and ask questions.
If I didn't have the line issue I would have given this product 5 stars. In my humble opinion the Epson 810 is a decent product.

Good, but bad wifi

Print greats photos, but wifi will not transfer all the information. It will only print half of the photo while using wifi. Needed to put in a 20 foot usb cable to connect it to my laptop.

The 810 all-in-one printer is amazing. The picture quality is great. I do scrapbooking and digital photography as a hobby. It also does a good job taking copies and scanning. Printing time is very good. It's a great all-in-one printer.
Personally I'm on my 6th Epson printer and would not have any other brand.
Iv'e worked with other brands and not been impressed with their working abilities.

Almost Perfect

I hesitated between a 4 or 5 rating for only one reason. I ultilmately chose 5 because this printer is a beautiful machine that delivers beautiful photo lab quality pictures very fast. I have only had the Artisan 810 one month and may have to add to this in six months, but for now it is everything Epson promised it to be.
My wife doesn't like email and prefers old fashioned faxes via phone. The 810 does everything. My home VOIP phone service was no problem for the fax and the 810 does laser like quailty B&W copies and bright, colorful photo prints (my daughter against flowers at a botanical garden).
I had only three problems, two of them my own making. When scanning, at first the scans took way too long, as long as five minutes. But after reading documentation I realized I was trying to scan at much too high a resolution than necessary. When I followed Epson guidelines, I got good results at reasonable speeds. Second, I did have one bad paper jam of 4x6 photo paper. This was because I initially put in much more paper in the tray than I needed and when I returned to the job a week later the paper in the tray had curled up and would not feed properly. A word to the wise, use all the photo paper you put in the tray at the same time. Load it only as needed for the immediate job.
The last problem I encountered was not of my own making and the reason I thought about rating the 810 at 4. Although I was able to link the 810 to my desktop Windows 7 computer via WiFi by following directions, my computer still did not automatically recognize digital media cards placed in the Artisan 810. I decided to rate the 810 a 5 because the solution to this problem was found at the Epson support web site. Although the walk through directions were technical for me, I was sucessful in solving that issue. I still have not gotten my home network laptop (running Vista) to recognize digital media cards placed in the Artisian 810 although I can print from the laptop. Thus my decsription of the 810 -- almost perfect.

Great printer and great price

Bought this printer because I needed a better scanner and wanted the CD/DVD printing capability. Epson seems to have discontinued most printers with this feature.
Setup was easy and I had no problems using my wireless router to connect. It does wireless scanning and printing very quickly and with no hassles.
Have a minor problem with the Y cartridge needing to be reseated, but once it is done, the printer works fine.
The printing is great. Black and white text looks to be laser quality and the photo printing (using the included paper samples) is absolutely amazing.
I like the onboard photo editing, touch screen and autofeeder.
My only concern is ink cost and that's always a worry for inkjet printers. Otherwise this unit is an outstanding Al-in-one and a very good buy.
