Artisan 810

I purchased this printer some time ago and just unpacked it this week. I was using a Epson 610 and was extremely happy with it. So happy that I was reluctant to take it down when it started having some problems. Having such good luck with the 610 is why I chose to go with the Artisan 810. Now that's ity's hooked up and on line I can say that it puts out more noise than the 610. As for as printing quality I haven't used it enough to rate it but what I've seen so far looks pretty good. I'm not really pleased with the out feed tray. I feel that Epson really cut corners on that part of the printer. My 610 had a substantial tray that was rugged and you didn't have to worry about breaking it of. I'm considering using a catch basket instead of the flimsy out feed tray that I know will get broke off in time. Epson had a great product in the 610 and I don't understand why they chose to cut some corners on their newer models. I only hope that this 810 will give me the same great service as my 610 did. I am a firm Epson lover and I hope to stay that way for a long time.

This will be our 2ND printer, cause the first one broke down in less then 5 months so we were elg. for a new one. This 2nd one tells me the ink is low and i should order more or replace and the ink is full. So, i don't know what's wrong there? Other then that it's pretty fast and no jams yet :)

scanner problem

I like my printer but find that without the capability to print only in black and white, I waste colored ink. Also I am unable to scan wireless although I am able to print wireless. I have developed a work around but it is very inconvenient.

As an everyday printer this Artisan is the best. It meets the needs of everyone in the family...photos, creativity, business and personal needs. I recently used the outgoing fax and was impressed at how easy it was to set up and use for the first time. It prints excellent photos when I need something quick and don't want to use my more expensive Epson photo printer. I enjoy photography and I have used nothing but Epson since I started printing at home more than 10 years ago. Thank you Epson for continuing to provide excellent, reliable, affordable products!!!

Overall great printer and scanner, works great wirelessly. Faxing is also great. Printing on a CD is also available. Works great on a Mac platform. Very easy to setup up.Ink has to be replaced pretty quickly. The only downfall is the flimsy paper trays.

Not for the Artisan

It's been 5 or 6 months since I purchased this printer and I am very disappointed. Every time I try to print on photo paper, it smears, won't print on window decal stock, or transparancies. Color is good, but ink will kill you. Lots of problems picking up paper from the tray, have to reload it a few times to get it right. Pros: easy to set up, easy read display.

My Artisan 810

I have had, and still do, several printers, but the Artisan 810 surpasses all the others. It is a true all-in-one device.
It was easy to set up and has a great interface.
I have read other reviews that complain about the flimsiness of the paper tray and the CD printer tray, they are delicate, but if you treat it with gentle care, it works fine.
The only problem I have is, when you are out of any particular ink, you cannot use it. This keeps you from scanning an item to your computer, even though you are not using any ink. Nor can you send a fax, when you are low on ink. There should be a way to bypass this.
Otherwise it is fast, makes flawless pictures and is easy to use.

Ink gone quickly

Ink does not last long while printing. Have to purchase more ink cartridges too often. The Epson ink is too costly and not cost effective. Need better ink that lasts for the customer. Over priced ink.
