We bought this @ Christmas 2 years ago. We have used it to fax, copy, print and scan pictures. I just replaced the ink cartridges this past week!! It prints beautiful pages and beautiful quality photos. VERY HAPPY with it!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

It's OK but Constant Head Cleaning
on November 19, 2013

I don't print often. I use this for a small home business, which is mostly virtual. When I do need to print something, usually always have to clean the print heads because it prints with streaks or lines in it.
I probably wouldn't purchase again. It has lasted me, though, about two years, which is OK for an all in one but not great.
Also, I don't like if one color print cartridge runs out, you can't do anything. There should be a choice to print in all black if you don't have colors. Instead, I have to run to the store to get Magenta or Yellow in order to print an all black and white. That's a real pain.

Worst piece of equipment I've ever bought

I would have given zero stars if that option was available.
This printer CONSTANTLY jams and you can't find any paper in it. The "tips" are useless and therefore I'm so frustrated I can't stand it.
I would NEVER buy another Epson product in my life.
In addition, when it decides it will work, which isn't often, it's slow, cumbersome and not worth a nickel.

Epson 610

Pro's: very high print quality, easy to use, networkable, fast, scans and faxes, and remote scans. Works with Vista and Windows 7 32 and 64 bit.
Con's: will not print if any of the 4 ink cartridges is empty. Uses ink too fast. (Even when you select print in black only).

Workforce 610..hummm

If the loudness doesn't bother you, then I would recommend it...otherwise....no. I am a long time user of Epson...love them. Unfortunately my CX5800F, the best printer I have ever owned, broke..a small plastic piece that rolls the paper through and could not be repaired. Because of the features, I replaced it with the Workforce 610, which I just completed setting up. Of course, I wanted to see how well it works and WOW...was I shocked at how LOUD it is when printing. The same goes for the paper releasing. I wasn't expecting that AT ALL. Warning....do no set this up in a room that will disturb anyone. I will share more later when I've had a chance to use all the other features. Hopefully, the loudness will cease to be a problem. If not....back it goes! Or maybe it goes back tomorrow!

Easy Set up

Just bought this printer and put it through its paces. So far, seems like a fairly good unit.
I have six computers. Following the instructions, I was able to install the printer for use on all computers, through my wifi router, without a hitch. The printer immediatedly saw my network, I entered the WEP code, and all was good.
You need to install the software individually on each computer for which you want printer access, and that takes about 5 - 6 minutes each. Once set up, the printer is able to see each computer individually. You can send scans to a file on any computer, using the printer's control panel. If you like, the resultant file may be a pdf.
Print, scan, and copy quality are all very good. I was a little disappointed at the photo quality, however, which was not as vibrant, printing on regular ink-jet paper, as my 10-year-old HP (v40).
This is the noisiest printer I have ever heard! A slight irritation to me, but if you have a home office and tend to keep later hours than others in the household, I would consider this factor.
I really like the idea of non-smudge, waterproof ink. This is a big plus in my book. Individual color cartridges are also a plus, reducing the need to replace an entire cartridge when one color is low.
Like most printers on the market in this range, it does not have a scanning area large enough for legal documents. The faceplate measures 9" X 12". The spec sheets lists the maximum "PC-free" copy size as 8.5 x 11 which, I assume, leaves out the possibility of scanning or copying legal or other long sized documents, even when using the sheet feeder. From the computer, you can print documents up to 44 inches in length. However, the maximum width is still 8.5.
On the bright side, the unit features enlargement and reduction from 25 to 400%. This is a very welcome feature and one that is missing in many other printers in this price range.
All in all, seems like a good machine for the money. Setup was easy, and my preliminary test show that I will be fairly content with this machine. One thing is for sure ... it won't allow me to sleep on the job!
