Very good for the money.

I just got this camera to replace my Canon Powershot A530. This camera is a HUGE improvement. One thing that I dislike is that it has some settings that seem really unnecessary, and is missing others I'd really like to see. Also, the battery life isn't great at all.... The fact that there's no viewfinder isn't a big deal but I guess if your dealing with a lot of sunlight it could be a problem. So far, the picture quality has been pretty good for a point and shoot. I like the macro, you can get pretty darn close, but maybe I just think that because I'm upgrading from such an old camera. I like the fact that this camera has a little weight to it, it doesn't feel flimsy.
So, overall, this point and shoot can produce very crisp and colorful images. It could have some better features, put is awesome becuase the price is so low.
Pros: excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life

Great Beginning Photography Camera

I love this camera. I bought it to get a better start on photography, since I'm only a beginner. I always had simple cameras, but this definetly surpass's all of my other ones. I takes great, clear pictures, and is exactly what I want for the to start off with. The menu and figuring it out is more difficult than just your average digital camera and bigger of course. And I hate having to use regular batteries. But in the end it's worth it.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life, Heavy/Bulky, Complicated controls/menu

My husband bought me this camera for my birthday and I totally love it. Although I am still learning about some of the features,it does take perfect pictures. Though the batteries it comes with burns out easy(so I was told) I bought the Energizer Ultimate Lithium ones and I have not had to change them since I got the camera on Feb.5th 2010....
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, everything!

Good camera for the price

I've had 5 digital cameras in the past including a DSLR and this is one of my favorites. I've had 3 Canon cameras (I am replacing a Canon Powershot) but the main reason I got this camera is for the 10x zoom. It is slightly larger than the digital I was using but not as bulky as my DSLR. I really like the zoom, however, the tele converter isn't as convenient as I find it shaky. The one drawback I find is not having a viewfinder. Also, trying to shoot photos in bright sunlight can be a problem without the viewfinder. However, the camera is easier to use than my other Powershot and the quality is exceptional. I don't find the battery life much different than any other digital camera. Just have to have plenty of batteries available.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: no viewfinder

An image stabilized lens that goes out to 360mm at f4.3 is just amazing at this price range. The best low light performance of any point and shoot I have ever seen. Good battery life while using NIMH batteries. Pictures look great!!!
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, easy to use, great zoom

Best camera thus far, in my 40+yrs as photographer

Overall, I am quite pleased with my new SX120IS. One major concern/complaint occurs when shooting in bright-light conditions: Frequently, a mirror image of my face appears in the LCD, obscuring the composition. A real bother, that! Can't always shield the camera, especially when zooming in on moving subjects, e.g., raptors and dragonflies, etc. They tend not to wait for technical adjustments. (I am partial to a viewfinder of an SLR, perhaps.) Otherwise, the SX120 IS is a fine camera--one I can recommend. --TRL
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life, see review above.

PowerShot SX120 IS

PowerShot SX120IS A nice camera for the price and with some good features. Canon has been building good cameras for a long time. I like the 10X optical zoom - that was one of the main reasons for buying it, but it does not go into digital zoom automatically. Pictures are good and clear after I figured out some of the settings. The book that came with the camera was next to no help. So it was trial and error to find settings that were to my liking. The camera feels good and sturdy, yet will fit in my shirt pocket while on a neck strap. The major draw back is the battery life. Any zoom and/or review seems to kill them quick. Have had it for 3 weeks and taken about 450 pix and charged lots of batteries.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life, no view finder

Just What I'm Looking For

This is a great camera! I really like the fact that "YOU" the operator, has full manual control over either shutter speed and/or F-stops. Manual control is important when shooting things like sports or a concert where only spotlight is being used!! The Image Stabilization feature is great when using the higher zoom settings and high magnification is important! A video mode, 10X zoom AND 10 Megapixel images don't hurt either!!!
The only thing I don't care TOO much for is it's a little complicated learning ALL the functions and the rear screen has a lot of icons to learn!! Bottom Line: "I love this camera!!"
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu, Heavy/Bulky, Short battery life
