REALLY GOOD CAMERA

THIS IS MY FIRST GOOD QUALITY DIGITAL CAMERA, AND I AM VERY IMPRESSED. BY THE TIME I THOUGHT TO PRINT THE MANUAL, I HAD ALREADY FIGURED OUT MOST OF THE FEATURES I USE ALL THE TIME ANYWAY. I HAVE TAKEN SOME AMAZING SHOTS MORNING NOON AND NIGHT, AND SOME PEOPLE HAVE MISTAKEN MY PHOTOGRAPHY WITH PROFFESIONAL WORK! THIS SEEMS LIKE THE PERFECT FIRST CAMERA FOR SOMEONE WITH VERY LITTLE EXPERIENCE YET HAS A PASSION FOR LEARNING.
Pros: excellent picture quality, like the 10 x zoom, compact light yet full of features, easily downloaded and printed manual, love the positive lock feature on battery cover
Cons: dust gets behind lcd screen cover

My first Canon

Bought my Powershot SX120 IS a week ago, and is pretty impresed with the results of this small camera.
I like the ID because it looks kinda professional.
I was initially skeptical of Canon because i've never used any of their cameras before.
I must say, the preset modes are pretty good. some other modes are found in SCN but i think the quality of those modes in SCN faired so so... I practically had tried almost all the modes within the camera alr. took some decent phots using the night snapshot mode too... i must say, the night snap shot mode takes some neat pics.
my bro drove pass a church the other day and i used the portrait mode to take the church. it came out with well defined edges, was totally impressed it could work this well in a moving vehicle.
I also like the 10X optical zoom. I live in a high rise flat and used the cam to take pictures kilometers away. The optical zoom worked great, it takes very clear pics. but i'll like to add, the digital zoom didnt work superb though, but it still takes some decent photos.
As you have read, the big LCD ensures you scrtinize ur pics on the go!
I had used the alkaline batteries which came in the package, the battery indicator was flashing by the time i took the 97th pic. so i switched to a rechargeable one and there's still no indication of the battery running out even when i've tooked the 200th pic. (but then again, i have not seen the battery indicator showing up on the lcd screen, wonder if i had missed out the setting of something)

to try the real pic quality, i downloaded the pics to my PC. and it reali came out as good as i taut :)
Bottom line: LOVE THE CAM!!!

Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Needed smaller camera for hiking

Does almost what my Canon EOS 10 does, but easier to carry when biking and hiking. Love the color control. Can work on photos without waiting to get back to camp for the computer. Using a battery pack with the new 8X Lithium Ion batteries makes for long life. I don't miss the view finder because of the large LCD screen. The zoom is better than my EOS10! The photos are clean and sharp.

Great P&S with good features

I own a Canon 40D DSLR camera so when I went looking for a P&S camera for my son in Iraq I looked at Canon first as I have had excellent service and results with Canon.
I have never owned a P&S camera so Before sending him the SX120IS I used it for a couple days to see how it took pictures and the quality of those pictures.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pictures came out. It has many features and they all work as advertised.
I shot about 75 pictures with it and the only negative I could find was the noise problem at higher ISO settings at 800 and above which one would rarely use anyway.
He had bought a different brand camera from the PX in Iraq and said it was terrible, that was the reason I sent him the Canon.
He received the camera the same day he was leaving for parts unknown and didn't have anytime to read a lot about its use.
He took many pictures and when he got back to his base he said the camera took excellent pictures and he had no problems at all using it.
Now he will read the manual on the CD and learn how to take better pictures.
Excellent choice.

I bought this model recently and really love it. I am used to a larger bodied camera ( that resembles a 35 mm) and I like the fact that this is so much smaller and of great quality. I use the copper top Duracell rechargable batteries for cameras and they last a very long time. My other digital uses 4 AA's and I like the fact that this uses 2. I found this camera easy to use.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Almost perfect

I recieved this camera last year as a Christmas gift and have taken it everywhere with me (I take alot of pics). The camera itself is great and takes nice pictures but I have not had the camera even a year and the flash stopped working! So this is a MAJOR downfall. I expect that after owning it for almost a year, and taking excellent care (always in a camera case and never been dropped) that the flash should not be having issues.

This is my third Cannon powershot and I bought this camera because of its zoom (10X) and its very reasonable price. I was surprised that Cannon used normal batteries and was not very pleased having to use 3 sets of batteries for my first 200 pictures. The bright LCD screen is great but not when you are standing in the sun as you can't see anything because of your reflection and there is no viewfinder to compensate that. The battery compartment and setting wheel are a bit hard to handle. Compared to my other (metal and smaller) cameras the SX120 IS looks a bit cheap but I realize that you can't expect a better zoom for such a low price.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Bright LCD, easy to use, low price
Cons: Short battery life, Flimsy Construction
