Not happy with quality

I have used Canon Powershots for 6 years, and last camera I had was the A170 IS. I was very excited to buy the SX120 as it had great reviews and I was looking for great close up pictures.
I am very surprised with the Auto setting results, it doesn't work for my needs.. I love taking pictures of my kids and capturing the perfect moment. As you know kids move.. and you want a camera to be able to capture that.. the SX120 hasn't done that for me.. the picture comes out blurry/moved. I have tried taking pictures in the Tv setting and it sometimes works.. but I can't count on the Auto setting. I have had the camera for 7 days now.. and am considering changing it for another camera... as I have 14 days to return it.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD, durable
Cons: Poor image quality, Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

No Viewfinder!

This was given to me as a gift. I wanted something with more zoom, which I got, but whoever heard of a camera without a viewfinder???? It's difficult to steady the camera sometimes, and I find it takes me too long to shoot! I wanted to take it back, but I didn't have the heart to do so!
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life, no neck strap

Battery Life

I have never had a camera that eats batteries like this canon product. On a casual sightseeing trip, I had to change double AA batteries once a day. At this rate, the annual supply of batteries will exceed the cost of the camera. Getting just like computer printers.

This has to be a defective product.

The only issues I have is the camera's LCD screen being extremely "grainy" and the battery life only lasting a few minutes. Everything else is great, most of the features are beyond me as I consider myself just a casual user of digital cameras.

I liked thie camera but it needed a viewfinder because the screen is too hard to see in bright sunlight, also in movie mode it would not keep in focus when zooming the lens. I turned it back in on an SX20 is and it's a lot more what I had in mind.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Dim LCD, no viewfinder, won't stay in focus movie mode
I would recommend this to a friend!

Canon SX120 IS

This is my 3rd Canon in 20 years: an indication why I am so brand loyal. I chose this model for the strong lens and sacrificed pixels for it. So far it is working really well but the battery lifespan seems to be shorter than my previous model. The features are excellent and operations simple. The hand grip is smaller but still there - unlike many other cameras. I gladly handle the bulkiness rather than a poor shot. Unless I missed it in the manual, this model does not seem to have a timer. That is a sad loss for portrait photography.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life

Kind of disapointed

I got this camera, after hearing it would be absolutley wonderful for someone who just likes recreational photography. I was very pleased with photo quality and how perfect the size was. But, I realized I had missing features like tones, colors, (b&w, sepia etc.) and it is upseting to have such a perfect camera with everything else but find out it is missing very important features.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings
