Wow what a difference from a camera that I was very fond of, to now this camera. I have been taking practice photos and the quality is that of a top of the line DSLR. User friendly and easy to learn. A must to have. Thank you Cannon for your quality product.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, great camera
Cons: Missing features/settings
I would recommend this to a friend!

a good start to photogarphy

This is a great camera, it takes great pictures. the movie/video mode has very low quality. you can`t use optical zoom with video, only digital. every thing else is great! Takes great quality images. contains good battery life if you buy rechargeable AA`s. regular AA`s do not last long at all. great for family photos. the flash is not that bright. it has manual mode but manual dose`nt work very well. great for photogarphy, great for portraits, good close up. over all preety good! this is a great start for someone starting photogarphy!
Pros: good battery life, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: video, flash

Quality with a Capital Q

Even though I have used many cameras over the years I wasn't very happy with the picture quality and function use of those cameras. I noticed a lot of my friends had Canon Cameras and the pictures they had taken with them had great color and were crystal clear. One of my friends had purchased the SX20IS to take with him to New York City. All I could say when he showed me the pictures was wow. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to use this camera. I just got back from a trip out west and took over 2000 pictures with the camera. Every single shot I took came out perfect.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable, great for zoom shots
Cons: you wil need to upgrade to a better flash

Great price for a great camera

I bought this camera because I dropped and broke my last powershot. This was an upgrade. The only complaints I have so far is the grip isn't as big as the last camera, and this one does not appear to have stitch assist.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, great price
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life, Complicated controls/menu, missing viewfinder
I would recommend this to a friend!

This Camera does not hold a charge on the battery

I've had this camera fixed once for not holding a charge on the battery and now I have to have it fixed again for the same problem. I would never buy this camera again and never recommend it to others. The $250.00 I paid for it is very expensive for a camera that doesn't work. It has low-light performance also.
Pros: Bright LCD
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life

I was really disappointed when I bought this camera. It had a grainy picture on the LCD and almost all of my macro pictures turned out blurry. I'm also very disappointed that Canon didn't include some of the fun features that other powershots have, such as color swap. The zoom is amazing, butthe picture isn't clear when used to the full extent. I didn't like that I had to manually flip the flash up. It is also VERY slow. My camera would take 3-4 seconds to store every picture. I was told that the the blurry images & slow speed were due to my 1 GB memory card, but I find that hard to believe. It has never affected my other Canon. Bottom line, the camera isn't great. I wouldn't reccoment it, especially to people who need to take "quick pics" of their kids or sports. It just doesnt stand up.
Cons: Missing features/settings, Poor Low-Light Performance, Difficult to use, Short battery life, Heavy/Bulky
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

GREAT CAM!!

i cant afford an SLR for now .. and i didnt want the normal cam.. so i think this cam comes in between those two!
the size and weight of it is perfect for on the go pics.. since im a new mommy now i need to take shots of the beautiful moment that come ur way un expectedly all the time and anywhere! and its jsut perfect for that! i carry it in my bag just like i would carry my cell phone!
i love the (kids and pets) feature! i take pics of my son running around in the park and the shots would be on the spot! still! and focused.
its a WOW camera. im totally inlove with it..
the only con is the batteries life. i now have to go out with a pair of AA batteries because they die very quickly i feel awful about doing that because this is pretty bad for the environment too. i wish there was a way to just recharge it.
I would recommend this to a friend!
