The ideal purchase

"OMG people!" Canon has done it "again" this is the most simplistic piece of machinery on the market today for the casual picture taker.
It is "SO" EZ I have had my 5yr old use it with ease. You CANNOT go wrong with this. The 10x zoom with image stabilization is awesome, the clarity of pictures and the ease of EZ mode makes taking a picture a "snap" making it the ideal point & shoot for the ameteur picture taker.
Facial recognition is great lets you know who is the main subject and adjust automatically for the others in the frame, with it's huge LCD screen.
Easy to view pictures so you can pick & chose your ideal photos to keep. Great menu to read & understand & follow.
Shooting movies is a "sinch" with this little camera, ez to print & offload to PC. This camera has it all for the average picture taker.
Definitley a must for the family getaways, it will always be at my side. I loved it so much, I bought another one. The only "beef" I have with this, is that it is a little heavier than other products I researched, but well worth overlookng considering all the other great features.
Thanks CANON I am and always will LOVE your cameras.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, simplistic
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

typical canon quality

I've had several canon cameras and it wasn't hard to make the decision to buy another. I wanted a smaller camera to carry around but still wanted a long lens and this sx120 is a winner. I sold my sx10 is and thought I would upgrade to the sx20 is but that was a mistake, picture quality on the sx20 wasn't as good as the sx10 but it did have HD video, still would prefer the sx10 though, a better camera overall. I took the sx20 back and bought the sx120, big improvement in picture sharpness. Only complaint is no printed manual and can't use the zoom in movie mode. Wish they would get smart and put optical viewfinders on these, in the bright sunlight the screen is almost useless.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings

Low Battery life
I love this camera and have fun with it... BUT the battery life is absolutely unacceptable. I'm considering returning it and get another canon that does not use AA batteries as power source.
I love canon and trust their products so I will stick with canon, but just a different model.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance
Cons: low battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Value

I received the camera for Christmas (per my request). I did a lot of comparison shopping, including reviews and decided that this camera, for the money, was a best value. I'm impressed with the zoom and macro ability and many other features. I like the LCD and the displays. I like that it uses AA batteries. I like that it uses SD and SDHC cards. I like the image stabilization. I like that when connecting to a Windows computer, the computer sees the Cannon as another device and pictures can be directly transfered without software, or a card reader. I would like a faster continuous shooting.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, easy to use, uses aa batteries
Cons: Short battery life, no continuous battery status indicator, slow recycle time.

B-Day Gift

I wanted this for my B-Day for quite some time. Ive only had it a few days but compared to my last camera purchase of a more expensive model I love this camera. I haven't used it enough to tell how the battery life will be but it is very light weight and the photo quality is outstanding.
One drawback and I found this with other manufactures is the SD card is under the battery tray, which in my case I use this for a web store so I'm always taken out the card.Maybe now I will use the included cables to download pix to my laptop.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: sd card location
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
