Under-estimated mighty-might!

Do NOT under-estimate this feature-packed little mighty-might! It - does - everything! Whether on "Easy", "Auto" or "P" (Programmed), anyone can take first-rate pictures as easy as pushing a button. For those more creative, Tv, Av and FULL manual control mean you should be able to adjust to any lighting situation. The "scene" settings make it all a real "no-brainer" to get GREAT images! The movie setting is spectacular - you can even zoom in and out! - and other than lack of underwater capability, this is just about the perfect "everyday" camera. However, It really could use a faster, wider standard lens. And the D!GiC IV processor is amazing!! vs. the D!GiC III in the SX 110 IS!
Overall, 1.75 thumbs up!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: needs a faster (f/2.0) aperture, needs a wider (28mm?) lens standard

I am very pleased with this camera! It is easy to use and yet has many more features than my previous digital. I especially like the ability to manually focus. It has helped get shots which would have been missed because the auto focus reads what was in front of what i was trying to capture. I have not even read the full manual - just the quick start guide and i am getting very good results. I cannot wait to discover what else I can do. One other thing I like is the AA batteries. they last plenty long and it is so easy to just pop in new ones when needed. I constantly review my shots and got well over 300 shots on the first set of batteries - and those were just regular - I am sure my lithiums will last even longer! Oh yes and the 10x zoom is wonderful! I can frame the shot I want so much better and get close ups of wildlife.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, 10x zoom
Cons: don't have an underwater housing available yet

Second Canon Digital Camera

The Canon Power Shot SX120IS is my second digital camera. My first was the Canon Power Shot A75 which I only replaced because it had only 3.2 mega pixels. The type of photography that I do, the 10.0 mega pixel SX120IS is exactly what I need. It is as easy to use as the A75. I love it for quick point and shoot camera......Easy to use, light weight, good clean, crisp pictures. But I have found that just like the A75 it has a short battery life if you are constantly uploading pictures to your computer. But under regular conditions I can use the camera for about a week without swapping out batteries.........Rechargeable's last a bit longer. Very happy once again........I believe that I will always buy Canon for digital cameras.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life

I got this camera for Christmas and couldn't wait to use it. Did not take long to learn how to use it at all! I am not technologically advanced by any means and this camera was simple and did all the work for me basically. I am not good at taking pictures, I am that person who always has the finger in the way and can never get in focus and never has a steady hand. I went to a concert this past week and I got the most INCREDIBLE pictures from it. I have never had a camera that worked so well. Yes it is a little bulky, but if you want to take great pictures, and aren't good at taking pictures, this is the camera for you! I would recommend this to everyone! I hope this lasts FOREVER. Nice work Canon, you've outdone yourselves, AGAIN.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Great camera for the price!

I have used the Powershot SX120 IS for about a month, taken over 700 pictures and used most of the features. The picture quality is excellent. The stabilizer works great, which is a great plus for me since I tend to be less steady now.
I had an older Powershot 610 which I liked better than any camera I ever had, but it broke. I decided to replace it with the SX120 IS because of price, 10 MP, but mainly the 10X optical zoom.
I read the reviews and therefore aware of the shorter battery life and the lag time to shoot when using the flash. In my situation I felt that to be a small concession concidering everything.
My biggest disappointment was finding(after I bought), it does not have the remote shoot feature. One other small con is the software CD that came with the camera didn't work with Windows 7. This was no real problem because I was able to download the new version from their website.
Canon support is great!
In conclusion, I have owened 5 digital cameras(three brands), and I feel the Powershot SX120 IS is a great camera for the price. The image quality is excellent. I would give it an overall rating of 4.6 stars
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life

Good compromise

We have gone through our other cameras and wanted a good quality camera with the ease and speed to match our photography style. I wanted the PowerShot SX10 IS-it is a brilliant buy, but decided that to purchase that would be used better to purchase a new slr (rebel) camera. So we found this model and it has the same ease of use, quick scrolling, super high quality picks and fast flash/camera speed overall. plus it has a 10x optical!!! very fancy ;) The camera is performing as it is designed. I would like a few more features found in the higher end models, but for what it can do vs what it cost it is one of the BEST priced cameras making it a great value. Plus it has the canon name, and guts. It has dbl AA battery life, we dont like that as much, but it is convenient (they can be purchased anywhere). Its body appears to be built well, but with lighter materials, I kinda worry about that-Ill have to take a little more care when an elephant is running at me! ;)
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, value
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life, Flimsy Construction

Love the zoom capability, image stabilizer and 3" view window. Got wonderful shots in low light - very clear. The stabilizer compensated well for my slight hand tremors. Just play the CD to get all the details you need about every function of the camera!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, great zoom
Cons: sd card and battery same compartment, no view finder

EXCELLENT camera, TERRIBLE battery life
on August 4, 2010

I bought this camera to use for taking pictures at concerts and for action shots and it is excellent for both. I was surprised how clear the picture was from a concert where I was in the 26th row, picture looked like I was in the 3rd row. I haven't tried too many action shots, but from what I took all the pictures were good. When taking pictures in daylight, you have to do a little adjusting because sometimes the background comes out too white, I guess it would be easier to fix this problem if the camera came with a user manual instead of having to download something from the computer. Two reasons I wouldn't recommend this camera, its odd size which makes it fairly hard to find a case and/or put in your pocket and the very poor decision to make the camera take AA's instead of using a battery pack. My previous Canon used a battery pack and I liked that I didn't have to worry about using AA's. When I was at a concert recently my BRAND NEW batteries died in 45 minutes and I didn't even have the camera on the whole time. When I did I took mostly pictures and only one video. If this camera didn't take such good pictures, I would definitely return it just because of how quickly it uses batteries. I wish they made this with a battery pack instead.
Pros: great low-light, good action shots
Cons: terrible battery life
