Most frustrating computer ever!!!

When I first received my Canon MP560, I was delighted that I could actually set it up myself (I'm no technological expert!). It printed beautiful color photos and made great black and white copies. After about three months of normal use, I noticed that it started reacting very slowly to print commands, sometimes not printing at all until I stopped the printing and later tried it again. Or it would not print a document, but it would go through the motions and spit out blank paper. Other times it does nothing except make noises, and I get a message that the "document failed to print"---as if I didn't already know that! I have tried opening it and repositioning the ink cartridges (which did eventually result in my receiving a document that had been waiting for two days!) I just checked the ports, and apparently it is connected to the correct one. I am at my wit's end with this printer. Perhaps it's something simple (no---my ink is not depleted), but I need to be able to use this, and I don't know what else to do. If anyone out there has suggestions, please let me know how to solve this problem.
Pros: Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: Slow Print Speed, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Originally I owned 3 other major brand 'all n one' printers but because I go south for the winter, they sit for 5 months and the nozzles clog up. So I finally tried the Canon and I no longer have that problem. Not only that, I get great photos, wireless printing and duplex printing (both sides of the page). I now have two Pixma MP530s and an MP620. Extremely happy with the Canon. Bye the way, the tech support is outstanding too if you have trouble getting them set up for wireless!! I have found no cons with these printers either!!
Pros: duplex printing

I have never been so happy with a printer. For the price it sells for, it is an absolute steal. It does everything! The scanner works great, Printing is fast, quiet, and crisp, the wireless works without issues... its just a very well made product. It has lasted over a year now and still going strong.
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Low Ink Consumption, Lightweight/Portable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best Printer I've ever Owned!!

Absolutely the best printer I've ever owned. Small footprint, great quality, fabulous photos and inexpensive inks. I've owned both laser printers and inkjet printers and none compare regardless of price. This is the one ink jet printer that I've owned that didn't seem to be drinking ink while turned off. I also love the innovative ink cartridges with the blinking L.E.D.s to show you which cartridge requires attention. Although there is a "nag" screen to let you know the ink is low the printer continues to function and can be switched to black & white printing rather than just refuse to print. I LOVE this printer and will buy Canon printers in the future.
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use

Don't Buy if you print a lot

I had this printer for two years, using the scanner and emailing and the printer for coupons and the occasional email. Then I was laid off and started freelancing, which required the daily use of a printer. It worked well for about a month, then blotches started to appear, the printing started to fade until it stopped printing altogether. I tried everything to fix it, including removing all the software and adding it again. Still nothing. I think it is just a poor heavier duty printer.
Pros: good scanner
Cons: unreliable

Good printer, but not perfect...

I've had the Pixma MP560 for a little less than a year.
Feature wise, it has a lot of bells and whistles. Only thing it's missing that I would have liked is an auto document feeder on the scanner bed. Wifi setup could have been a little easier I think... The click wheel is probably faster than other methods on other brand printers, so maybe this is an empty gripe. I would have liked a better user interface.
Scan quality is excellent.
Print quality is excellent. One caveat here... You can't expect to use copier paper and get good results. If you're using purpose made high stock inkjet white paper you will get great black and white documents. Likewise, if you are using high stock quality photo paper you will get photos that are just outstanding. Seems to be built well also, a more solid build than other competitors printers I have used in the past. I give quality 5 stars, even though I have had an issue with the printer...
Performance I would say is average... It's not the slowest printer, and it's not the fastest, especially for color prints... VERY SLOW for photos, but the print quality is spectacular so it's a fair trade off in my opinion. Color prints do suck the ink pretty quickly, which is expected. Ink use on standard documents is not bad... On average I print 15-20 pages per week, and get about 2.5-3 months life from the large black cartridge.
Now to the one bad part... This printer does use a single replacable print head, and individual ink tanks. Changing the tank still leaves the print head in place... Ink has a tendancy to dry out and clog print heads up... Unfortuantely this is what happened to mine. I went out of town for a couple of weeks, and didn't end up using the printer for about 4 weeks. I fired it up and it no longer prints from the large black tank.
Luckilly I am still under warranty, so I made a quick call to Canon tech support and they had a new print head on it's way to my door step right away.
Because all your getting is an ink storage tank, and not a print head, I think the ink could be more reasonably priced. I have spent about $150-$200 on ink in the year I have owned the printer. The print head itself if you have to pay for it is somewhere around $70-$90...
Printers are cheap enough now days it's almost worth your while to just buy a new printer every time your current printer runs out of ink...
All in all, Canon service being top notch helped me overlook the print head problem, at least for now... Great Prints, and a great price if you can still find a new one out there, snap it up... Good printer, without a doubt.
Pros: Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use, excellent scanner, excellent photo prints
Cons: High Ink Consumption, print head is seperate from ink cartridge
