It toasts unevenly and burns the bread. I have yet to figure out what setting will work for a single slice of bread because it burns so badly. On an uneven "nooks and crannies" English muffin the edges burn. The house smells of burnt food whenever I use it. My other alternative is to set it at "2" and toast multiple times, watching it all the time. Also, the dimensions said that it was 7" tall. This was important because I have an under the cupboard mounted coffeemaker. It's actually 7 1/4" tall, which means it drags on the appliance above it. It looks nice and cools down rapidly.

Very good toaster. The only reason I gave it a four star rating is that when toasting a single slice (in either slot) one side of the bread gets fully toasted but the other side not so much. No problem with two slices.

We owned an earlier version of this Cuisinart toaster. For many years it functioned just fine. Recently it started to put off some funny smells while operating. Cleaning the crumbs out did not really help so we decided to replace. Looking at all the options we chose Cuisinart again. This time I actually read the instructions and learned that if you select "bagel" setting it adds extra time to English muffins and wheat bread eliminating the need to toast for two cycles. It seems this new model does toast more evenly, too. If this lasts as long as our previous model Cuisinart toaster, it will be a bargain.

It is OK. Based on the price I shouldn’t have expected perfection, but I do usually expect a little better than OK from Cuisinart. I have many Cuisinart appliances - Griddler, drip coffee pot, small and large food processors, ice cream maker, immersion blender and there could be a couple more. The problem I have with this toaster is that it doesn’t toast evenly. One side is always darker than the other, so you really have to watch the setting. You might need to fuss around with it a bit, depending on how dark or light you can tolerate one side of your toast!!

I've used the toaster only a few times since purchase but is so much better than my old toaster. You can regulate the darkness of the toast which I have been experimenting with but found 4 seemed to cover most bread. In addition, it has the extra settings like "bagels" which I recently used for toaster waffles, the deep dish kind, and turned out crispy outside but soft inside. So far it has been a good product.
