Not long enough for bread width and toasts unevenl

Not long enough for bread width, im not saying super wide soursough bread, but something a little wider than sandwich bread it isnt fitting so i have to turn it the other direction so the bread sticks out the top and doesnt get toasted. Ok for thickness of bagels so the width is fine. Big negative is i am also seeing it toasts unevenly, half of the bread is getting more burnt.

It doesn’t always toast evenly . It also doesn’t toast one slice at a time well either. I think other toasters have the same problem so two slices is what I do
