Great product except.........................

I have owned a lot of laptop coolers and this one is really really nice. It looks great, cools great, is very quiet and it has 4 USB ports with a plug for a power supply. However, no power supply is provided with the unit and there is no info supplied by Targus. I had an extra one from another powered USB port so I used it and it and all the ports worked fine. I've used the cooler for the past 3 months and up until tonight it has worked great, then it just suddenly quit working. I thought there was a problem with my laptop drivers or maybe the USB port I was using but after about 40 minutes of trouble shooting I figured out it is the USB ports on the cooler not working properly. I'm not sure yet but I think my power supply has weakened and that is what has caused the cooler ports to not work properly. If I can find a good power supply made for this cooler I will buy iit because I like it that much. Hope this is the problem and I hope Targus has a power supply or a solution on where I can get one when I call tomorrow.

Had high hopes

I had such high hopes for this product when I bought it but ultimately this did not really help with anything. I have a pretty powerful computer; I-7 processor and dedicated graphics card and figured that this product would help keep my computer cool. In short it did not; infact it did absolutely nothing to cool down the laptop when I tried playing games like sc2. It is a very nice design and the fans are very quiet but also very very slow. I felt very little air being blown from them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Comfortable but does NOT do cooling job

I really liked Targus's lap chill mat feel in my lap. When I plugged it in to the usb port it was quiet wnough I was questioning if the fans were on/working. When I put my hand inbettween my laptop & cooling mat I could feel a LITTLE bit fan power so ok fans started up. Little later decided to check how my laptop was doing with new cooling pad...UNFOTUNATLY the underside of my laptop was as warm as if there was NO cooling unit under it. I'M PLANNING ON RETURNING IT TO THE STORE!
Pros: comfortable in lap
Cons: doesn't cool off laptop!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Effective Laptop Chill Mat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband is a writer and likes to spend a portion of his time writing on the couch. He used to use a throw pillow to keep his laptop off his lap and to prevent the blocking of the internal fan vent. This chill mat is great! He now has a flat surface to place his computer that is also keeping the laptop cool. And I am now less annoyed that he’s using a throw pillow for an unintended use. The only drawback is that it will be hard to pack for travel as it’s bigger than the laptop itself.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Gadget

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a month ago and wasn’t completely sure if I would use it that often...but i was so wrong. Being a remote student you can imagine how long I am using/ on my computer each day, and when I got this pad it made using my computer so much more bearable. This pad not only gets the computers at a more comfortable position/height for me when sitting down, but it also helped stop the burning sensation when my computer would inevitably over-heat. Overall good product, wouldn’t say it’s necessary but if you can get your hands on it, it’s super useful.
