keeps the crown jewels cool

My gaming laptop is well equipped with fans already so I was never worried about cooling issues of my hardware. My PC's fans are plenty powerful, and if manually turned up to maximum effort sound like a f18 powering up to take off the carrier deck. So needless to say, my computer stays plenty cool even under heavy gaming. The max I've seen is 85 degrees out of my GPU. But I along with my wife was concerned with the heat's effect on my little swimmers.. A laptop running at 85 degrees Celsius isn't necessarily comfortable sitting on your lap, and definitely not good for the crown jewels. With this chill mat, it's a win-win situation for me. I keep my laptop a few degrees cooler and get to keep my fertility. The added bonus of the comfortable angle is nice too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Design is comfortable but the cord is extremely short, fans aren't powerful

I like the design but the cord on the newer model is ridiculously short. I had to get a usb extension cord to be able to plug it into my docking station. The fans are quiet - as they should be - but breeze is barely detectable.

I hoped for better.

It is comfortable but the cool air isn't allowed to pass through the bottom. It may keep the laptop cooler but it isn't cooler to have on your lap. Finally it takes up one of your USB ports on your laptop without giving any back. Most others have one or two USB ports built into the mat.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poorly designed, lacks structural rigidity, the bottom panel has developed 2 big cracks on either side in less than 2 months of use with a 17" laptop

I purchased this model to replace a Targus chill pad that I bought in 2011 which is still operational but was getting a bit noisy. The improvements in the new one I just purchased are quite nice: (1) the tilt in this mat does make it easier to type on my laptop, (2) the design of the mat allows my laptop to sit slightly above the mat meaning I'll get better airflow, and (3) the open design of the mat would seem to allow for better airflow under the mat as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It would have been a good chill mat if it hadn't been damaged in shipment. There was a big hole and rip in the box and a plastic piece was snapped off the upper right hand side of the chill pad. The mat must be somewhat tough because looking at the box it should have had much more damage on it. It was surprising how little packing was in the box.

Usb connector so flimsy it can't withstand everyday use, keeps shorting out. Taking this baby back, thankfully I kept my receipt.
