What I got was better than I'd expected, based on the reviews taken as a whole. The product came in a Go-Fit box. The bar is solid, the grips are well attached (so far), and the brackets are very well designed -- five thin, long screws for each bracket. All parts seem solidly constructed. The bar didn't slide into place easily, and it would/will take some force to get it out again whenever we need to do that. The little tabs that fold over don't seem to do anything to lock the bar in place, despite claims in the instructions. But since there's so much friction keeping the bar in place anyway, that's not a problem for us. We're just using this as a chin-up bar, not a sit-up bar, anyway. We've just used it for one day; if problems develop, I'll revise the review and the no. of stars.

This is such a simple thing, you would think it would be easy to find one of good quality, but it is not. This bar is heavy duty, does not roll, and has adjustable grips that stay put while in use. If you do not have a door jam with a flat surface to screw the plates in of at least 1 1/4" wide, do not buy it. It won't fit. I put it on a door frame that does not have a door, but if yours does have a door, the brackets will have to be placed clear of the door closing. If your door does not give you a clearance of 5 inches above your head, don't buy it, you will hit your head while it is not in use, or, if you do buy it, be prepared to remove it after each use. The bar is easily removed, however, the mounting brackets are permanent. When mounting the brackets, the instructions put the bar a little too close to the top of the door, so I added 1/2" or so. This allows me to remove the bar more easily and for a little more clearance for my hands.Wow, what a great quick workout! Chin-ups and pull-ups are full body exercises and with the bar in all the time, I can do one or two every time I enter the room. This is perfect for my teenage son, as well. His coaches prefer him to use body weight exercises and this fits the bill. We are just delighted with this product.

I am satisfied with the purchase, there were a lot of reviews that talked about how the company used cheaper items etc. and alot of people are not satifisfied with the product etcBefore, buying this product, look at what you firstly have available home, if you got a wooden door frame or a concrete door frame greater than 25" but less than 36", then this product is suitable for youI have a concrete door frame, i used my hilti drill and wall plugs to install the brackets (with the screws supplied - people just take your time, keep your screwdriver or drill straight and the screws go in flush without rounding of the heads - you just gotta know how to use the things.... don't go saying the screws are cheap....blah blah blah.....know the proper way to use them), make sure and use all five screws, once installed there has been absolutely no problem in its useThey even sent an extra pair of brackets so you can install this other set at the base of the door frame to do push ups and you can also lock your feet when doing certain types of abdominal exercises, i have been using the product with P90X an no problems yetWorking like an absolute charm.I gave fours stars because of incorrect advertising, the product that you see in the picture is not what you will receive - but the application is the same however.

I put this bar up in a hallway, with four foot long 2x4's mounted vertically to the wall (into studs) first to screw the end supports into. We have one setting low for the two young kids, and one pair of end supports high for us. The hexagon end shape is great so the bar can't twist as you hang. I put tennis racket tape over the majority of the bar, so its very easy to grip wide or narrow. The only thing that takes one star off is that the little locking tabs don't actually hold anything. They rotate very loosely. But to get the bar out takes some careful effort to slide both sides out evenly, so its not very likely to accidentally shift up and out of the supports. But if there were some way to tighten the locking tabs for extra security, I would definitely give it 5 stars! Much safer for my 1-year-old to hang and swing from then the kitchen drawers or high chair tray he was always getting to before!!

I'm giving it 5 stars because I got what I expected for such a low price and it's not complete junk. The "grip" things are absolutely useless, held on by velcro and spin freely, so you may as well toss them. The only other "problem" I see is a mistake in the installation instructions. It says to draw a line 3 inches from top of door frame, place bracket bottom on line, and attach. If you do this, make sure you have VERY small hands, because I see no way anyone could possibly grip the bar with such little space between it and the top of the door frame (let alone even put the bar into the brackets!).

This is exactly what you need for a chin-up bar to put in a doorway. It comes with easily-installed brackets to hold the bar in place; the length of the bar adjusts gradually in a screw-like motion to fit into the doorway; and it is cheap. DO NOT use the bar without the brackets, as other reviewers have noted. The bar also comes with two foam grips. The grips are nice, and helps you hang on until the end of the set, especially if (like me) your grip fails before your back and forearm muscles. I haven't had grips on my previous chin-up bars, and the grips definitely help. The foam will probably wear out in a year or so, depending on how much you use the bar. I think the grips can't be replaced, and then you'll probably have to use gloves as the polished chrome surface of the bar is really too slick to hold on to for long. Or you could just buy a new bar with fresh grips, as this thing is really cheap. Now go get pumped up.
