I have had my chin up bar for over a year now, I initially bought it to encourage my "couch potato" kids to challenge themselves or each other! Well it has accomplished that & MORE! My boys now are a LOT leaner & toned, this was an easy "fun" way to get into becoming physically fit! When you see it everyday it is an easy "prompting" to see how many you can now do! We started with some of the kids only being able to hang on it, after reaching it standing on a stool! The youngest kids did NOT want to be left out of the FUN! They even got me, old mom to try my muscles out with it! I am considering buying more for each kids bedroom door, as whenever they see someone doing it, they all have to wait for turns to see if they can out do the other kids (this takes some time as I have "MANY" children!!) SEVEN, & 5 are boys! :.) The ONLY "CON" is that due to soooo much use it has pushed apart the molding in the door's frame where it is installed, that will be easy enough to remedy (knocking it back in place) IF we ever go to sell the house. It is a small enough price to pay for my boys "new found" muscles & has spurred them onto all types of other physical conditioning competing. The latest is seeing who can do a "PLANK" the longest! Mom is holding the lead thus far at a consistent 7 minutes with an occasional 8! But ONLY on an EMPTY stomach first thing in the A.M.! LOL I HIGHLY recommend this inexpensive bar for yourself or a friend, it makes a GREAT gift!

This chin up bar is well worth it - especially for the price. I read probably about 30 reviews before I decided to commit to this product and I'm glad I did. Some reviewers reported having issues that I didn't have though. I'm assuming the product has been updated. You MUST follow the installation directs very closely and if you do, there will be no problems. It's necessary to pre-drill the holes. Others reported problems with stripping the screws. They probably didn't pre-drill the holes because I had no issue with the screws. I also read a review that said the hand grips were impossible to move. Not true. They velcro on and off in a second and you can move them anywhere. The one reported issue that I have found is true is that once the bar is in the brackets, it's pretty difficult to take it out without banging on it from the bottom. This bar comes with 2 sets of brackets so you can theoretically switch from a high mount for pull ups to a low mount for sit ups. However, I don't mind using the frame of my bed to brace myself for sit ups because having this sleek, unobtrusive bar in the doorway keeps me doing pull ups everyday. Let's face it: If I took it down after I used it, there's little likelihood of me putting it back up. Since it's up there, I do a set multiple times a day when I go in and out of my bedroom. And it's not an eye sore; it's just a metal bar with black hand grips. I've been using it for just a month now and results are obvious. It's got me excited to keep going.

If you're not handy with a drill, I'd recommend you have someone who is, install this for you. Just because it's so important to get the screws perfectly level and straight in order to be able to remove the bar easily. But even with a perfect fit for all of the screws (credit goes to the friend who installed this for me) my bar doesn't want to pop out of the brackets now and I know I'll have a hell of a time removing it once I move to a new place soon. That said, the bar is rock solid and holds my weight (185lbs) pretty well, with minimal bend. I was hoping the door frame would be wide enough to allow me to do pull ups as well as chin ups, but I think the fit is a bit too tight and my grip would have to be too narrow for comfort. I still am not able to do a single pull-up tho, so I guess I'll know better once I manage a couple. For chins alone, this bar is amazing and I like seeing what this exercise does to my upper body, specially my arms and lats.If you don't want to drill holes in your frame, look elsewhere but if you don't mind, this is a good product for the price.

This is replacing a pull up bar that "hangs" on the door frame. What a difference!! The circumference is wider and I am definitely feeling it in my forearms!! So far it does feel really secure. As others have mentioned, in the instructions, the measured distance from the top of the door frame is too close. I dropped it down an inch further and that is a good spot for me. I will probably get rid of the velcro/rubber grip things and wrap the bar with hockey tape. I may update after further use if anything changes.

WONDERFUL FOR STRETCHING SPINE. I HAVE HAD THIS BAR FOR YEARS and Love It. I have a very bad back and if I just hang from it each day it really helps my spine. Just looked it up to see if you still had it for my brother.

EXCELLENT. Bought this bar and the quality is great. It is better to put th brackets than the other adjustble bars. This bar is steady and it says the capacity is 300lbs. I think it can even hold more than that. GREAT PRODUCT

It was easy to install using just a power drill and a screwdriver, and seems quite sturdy. The suggestion for what size pilot hole to drill seemed too small, so I picked a bit the same size as the inner core of the screw (the part that would be left if all the threads were gone). After reading that some people had trouble with these screws, I only used the drill to tighten it most of the way and finished up by hand. I did not strip even one--maybe it is an advantage sometimes to not be all that strong, lol. I like the fact that there are 2 sets of brackets capable of fully supporting the bar. I put the second set about 2 and a half feet off the ground for inverted rows, and that height is also good for pushups when I don't feel up to doing them with my full body weight. This gives about the same resistance as doing them from my knees, but without the pressure on my kneecaps. As for the pullups, I hope to get there eventually, and if I don't it won't be the bar's fault.

I was so happy with the quality and ease of installation of this bar that I bought a second one. Great product. It doesn't have the danger of unscrewing like the tension rod I ordered before and it doesn't spin due to the shape of the ends. Its incredibly well-made and was very easy to install. It also comes with two sets of brackets so you can have two different heights as needed. It also has a very effective locking mechanism for the bar. It takes a bit of strength to pull it off the brackets. Exactly what my girls' needed for their gym rings. I highly highly recommend this.
