We just purchased our 3rd one of these. Each prior machine lasted about 5 years. We drink a lot of coffee, so this machine has to be a workhorse. It is. When it does wear out, it is because it begins to leak- it's probably burned out from the hard use.
According to Consumers Reports, all automatic coffee pots make pretty good coffee nowadays, but this coffeemaker is our favorite. Here's why.
First, it is the right size. Most other coffeemakers are too large- too tall to fit well under cabinets, or they have too large of a "footprint" on the counter.
Second, we love the stainless steel carafe. It keeps the coffee warm for a long time without any additional heat, so the coffee doesn't "burn". When the coffee does cool down in the carafe, the lid still keeps the coffee fresh. So the coffee reheats well in the microwave and still tastes fresh. Of course, the carafe is unbreakable and that's a plus, too. We always have one carafe filled with regular coffee, and one with Decaf, now that we have the extra carafes from our prior machines. When we have a party, we can keep the coffee flowing by utilizing through all 3 carafes.
Third, this coffeemaker is intuitively and physically easy to use. If you want to use the programmable features, they aren't difficult to use. But, you don't have to use the programmable features if you don't want to. Also, this machine has an indicator light to tell you when you need to clean it with a coffeemaker cleaning solution.
We highly recommend this model!

This is our second of this model and actually, this one works better than the first at keeping the coffee warm in the carafe. The features and size are perfect for us. The 'time to clean' indicator never worked on the first model...waiting to see on this one. But no matter since I clean it periodically anyway. Other than that this is a great coffeemaker.

We took the coffee pot out of the box, followed all directions, but when we brewed our first pot of coffee, the coffee maker leaked water from a seam near the grounds basket. We tried several times, but it still leaked. We returned the coffee maker and bought a Mr. Coffee.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Everything works fine, just the design of the pot makes it almost impossible to pour the last drop of coffee without spill from the spout. I've been using it for only 2 months, wondering if the seal rubber on the pot lid will last long.
