Does a fine job but not made in USA and base is all plastic. Heavy crock for actual cooking. This is our 3rd one as we've had two of the crocks crack or dropped one...not Cuisinart's fault! Wish we could have purchased the actual crock but at the cost, you might as well buy a new one!

I love this slow cooker! I bought it because of the retractable cord and the ceramic cooking pot. After using it several times, I can say, it I exactly what I wanted and I’m so glad I bought it. I had purchased two others recently, one had a ceramic pot but not the retractable cord and the other had a retractable cord but a non stick pot which started pealing after a couple of meals. So I was thrilled to find this one that has it all! The only minus about it, the lid does not lock but I think you can buy rubber lid protectors.
