Battery Sticks Out of Computer

I chose the 12-cell battery instead of the 6-cell battery because it's supposed to provide more battery life. However, I didn't know that the battery would stick out of the computer, which is something I've never seen on a laptop before. My previous battery fit completely into the battery compartment so that the computer lay flat on my desk. Currently, the 12-cell battery extends along the length of the computer and protrudes from the bottom, resulting in my laptop being on an incline, which has its pros and cons. One pro is that the incline may be better for my hands in the long run because they're not in a strained position when I type. One con is that I'm always worried that I'll accidentally pop out the battery whenever I have to carry my laptop to another room or whenever I put it in my backpack to go back and forth to class.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Better than supplied battery

Bought this to replace the original battery on my G60. After 2 years of heavy use, it finally dropped holding a charge. The 12 cell replacement is a better option, although my average use is 4.5 hours with heavy use of video and internet apllications. The power meter light feature is a nice visual cue, and the size of the battery keeps the base elevated - good for air circulation and cooling. Best feature - being able to recharge the battery directly, without it being installed. Excellent for travel purposes.

Excellent OEM replacement

Prior to purchasing a HP genuine replacement battery, I bought a non-oem battery from amazon.com for one third the cost. However, from the initial difficulty of fitting correctly to phantom shut offs, I returned it after 2 weeks of frustration.
Once I received the HP genuine battery, it fit perfect and after fully charging it up, I have not experience any phantom shut offs or interuption to my computer use. I am completely satisfied.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The battary that came with my comp never lasted long so I was always having to carry the cord with me and be near an outlet... so annoying. then is stopped working all together. I ordered the 12-cell skepitcal of how much longer it would last, but I was happy to find it lasts at least twice as long! It does stick out from the bottom about 1/2 an inch which I thought would annoy me, but it actually helps because it allows air to flow through and cool it off. Very satisfied.

Deceptive first click on installation, Heavier battery would fall out easily.... online check found several references to this effect. Younger person with no respect for electronics "snapped" it into a snug fit in a jiff. Charged great, indicator light great, external disconnected charging- great. Extra heat not noticable with tilt,and lift off the surfaces. Cheaper smaller battery used as a swap in when this one discharged.

My original 6-cell laptop battery always had a relative short service time between charges. Then it began to fail me. I chose to order the 12-cell battery, hoping for a little better all-around service. I was pleased to find that the 12-cell battery charged pretty quickly and gave about 3 times the service time before needing to be charged. I have been COMPLETELY SATISFIED. Thanks.

Lack of completed engineering

The picture looks like it can be connected to the power supply while in the notebook; however this is not the case. I purchased this due to a failed power adapter socket on the notebook and thought I would be able to keep it connected while using the notebook. The battery must be removed from the notebook to connect the power supply because the socket in on top of the battery instead of on the side as it appears in the picture. Being able to connect to the power supply while the battery was still in the notebook would be a great advantage over having to take it out for charging. Poor engineering.... Instead of getting the maximum functionality from the product, it maintains the same basic functionality as the original except I can at least recharge it after closing all programs, shutting down the machine and removing the battery. Additionally, I only get about 3 hours from the battery with a full charge, not the 5-8 advertised as well. Excellent idea and intentions that fell well short of potiential...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
