Great camera but no user's manual

This is my fourth Canon digital camera and each one seems better than the last. Most of my pictures are of close ups of various items for my own personal record. Macro mode in this model is great. I especially like the use of two AA batteries that are easily replaceable with either rechargeable NiMH or standard Alkaline. It has a viewfinder which makes it easy to compose shots in bright light where the image on the LCD monitor is difficult to see. Image Stabilization is great. Have not been able to appreciate all its features because a full featured, handy size user's manual is not included with the camera. It can be downloaded on a computer from the provided CD but in my opinion, that is not very practical. It can be printed out from the computer but I think a complete user's manual should be provided with the camera as in the three previous Canon models I've owned. That is my only negative comment, lack of a user's manual.

Some Room for Improvement

I always respected Canon's good quality reputation, so I was astonished to experience difficulties because of shoddy construction. I'm referring to the trap door on the battery compartment. I couldn't get it to open or close easily on the first camera I ordered, so I returned it. Today I received its replacement, and although it works better than the first, it still isn't easy. I have another Canon with a similar battery compartment and it works like a charm. Very disappointing! I still have to figure out how to activate the Macro feature. Nothing about it in the instruction manual. Why? Aside from these complaints, I like the camera's small size and all its features listed on its product page.

I researched cameras for a couple of months before making my purchase. This camera was always ranked high for customer quality/satisfaction. I totally agree with the reviews. I am very happy with my purchase and I've already recommended this camera to my family and friends. This is my first Canon camera and I don't think I'll ever own another brand again.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

I chose the A1100 as our first digital camera because it is about the same size as the point and shoot 35mm camera that we have and it does have a view finder. My wife even liked it for those reasons. It takes great pictures and its easy to download them to our computer. It is easy to use when set to automatic, just pretty much point and shoot. We went digital because you can delete pics you don't want and pick and choose what you want made into prints. Being able to put them on the computer makes it easy to share with family and friends.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use

I got this camera yesterday for several reasons. My wife and I have had Canon cameras for 6 years now. Canon is a good camera The price was right. Many features. 12.1 megapixel. My biggest reason is the replacable AA batteries. If my batteries die I don't want to have to plug in my camera and wait hours fo the battery to charge.I also have a Power shot A630 that is probably the best camera Canon ever made for the price. This is 2nd best but more megapixel power. If you take 50 or 60 photos a year all of the other Canon cameras are absolutely wonderful. I take many photos, I am retired, It's my hobby. I live in a beautiful State and may take 70-80 photos in one day 50 miles from an electrical plug. I may delete half but, that is why I love digital cameras. If my battery dies my nature walk is finished. I have only run my batteries down once but never want to do it again and always have spares in my pocket just in case.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

A very nice little camera

I am an amateur photographer (baseball mom) and needed a digital point and shoot camera for a variety of snapshots. This camera is impressive! It has features for the hobbiest to make shots crisper, color balanced, and well composed. I could not find a higher pixel for the price. It is just right for the pictures I take. I have not enlarged (more than 4x6) printed pictures with this camera but standard snaps and uploaded images are very nice! I expect enlarging to 5x7 or 8x10 would be ok too. larger than that you may see some pixelation. It does drain batteries quickly (I use the zoom and other settings alot tho), so having a back up set and rechargeables are a good idea. I love this camera!
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, great colors to choose from
Cons: Short battery life, only zooms to 4x
