Supremely Disappointed

I was so excited to receive this as a Christmas Gift this year. I normally use a Canon Rebel XTi and we needed a "put in your pocket and run" point and shoot for times when the Rebel was just too bulky for us to bring.
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The first one I got was a lemon right out of the box. I had to return it because the first one didn't have all the components and the pictures it took were abysmal. They had artifacts at all the edges and they were totally grainy.
I got the second one and all the components of the package were there, but I still have photo quality issues. Not ONE picture was ever crisp on the edges, some pictures in low light actually have halo lighting effects around the subject and the graininess, even on the highest quality is absolutely evident.
The battery life is horrific. Yes, I mean HORRIFIC. I used fresh new batteries in the morning and by 2 hours into my day, they were registering dead. I missed out on a day of pictures.
I went home and changed the batteries and tested the ones that came out. They were more than HALF GOOD STILL!!!! I feel totally cheated, as when this camera says "CHANGE BATTERIES" and turns off, there is more than half of the battery left!!!!
I have to carry at LEAST 8 batteries to get me through the whole day.
The only positives I can say about this camera is that the controls are simple and the LCD is beautiful.
If I could return this and get my money back, I would do it in a heartbeat, but since it's been used for about 2 months by me, I'm outta luck, I guess. I kept trying to give it another shot, but every time I got my pictures uploaded to my computer, I was disappointed over and over again.
If you want crisp vibrant pictures and memories you will be able to capture - DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!
Pros: Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Poor image quality, Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Used Canon's since Digital came out!

I have used Canon digital cameras for my real estate Appraisal and Broker work since I remember the first digital camera came out from Canon. Never have been let down. Always ready - always easy to use, easy to adjust and easiest of all to use. Just bought my 6th digital camera. They don't really wear out from my heavy use - but I need to have the latest technology every now and then, and I "pass on" my old cameras to friends.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

I bought this camera a week before my daughter's graduation just to take some practice shots. I was a bit skeptical about battery life with the AAs but decide to give this camera a chance. Wow was i suprised not only did it take great pictures but the battery life is very good. I boughrt 4 AAs rechargable batteries and have taken over 100 pictures and I am just now putting in my 2nd pair of rechargables.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

perfect until it breaks

i have gone through this same camera twice, and unfortunately, it seems to keep malfunctioning. unlike many of canon's other quality products, this camera's retractable lens can be easily opened and jammed - therefore ruining the camera. with only a 90 day warranty, this has made an otherwise great product an unwise investment. i love the features and settings; it has survived many ski trips, snow adventures, waterskiing and kayaking trips. but with the faulty lens, i would suggest investing in something a little more durable.
Pros: great features
Cons: fragile
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Camera at Affordable price

When searching for a camera for my mother, I found this one to have a lot of features at an affordable price. It also had a nice sized viewing screen. After showing her how to use it, and seeing the quality of the camera, I ended up buying one for myself. For a camera that takes great pictures and is simple to use, I would recommend this one. Canon's quality really shows.
Pros: viewing screen, multiple camera settings, 12.1 mega pixels, 4x optical zoom, compact and lightweight, image stabilizer, a a batteries
I would recommend this to a friend!

High Quality Images & Easy To Use

Purchased as a gift for my reluctant to go digital wife, this camera has proven to be a good choice. Inclusion of a viewfinder sets it apart from most others on the market. Not only did that help transition to digital, but is really a help when taking pictures in bright light when it is almost impossible to see a LCD display on most cameras. Picture detail is good even when blown up to an 8 x 10 print. Software makes it easy to upload new pictures to one computer. However it is not as easy when uploading to a second computer. The camera remembers what was uploaded once, and will not upload only what are new pictures on a second computer. Our only other complaint is that the knob that controls picture mode has moved a few times inadvertently. It would be nice if it had a little more resistance to move. Recycling time when using flash seems a little long. Still overall we feel it was a good choice based on both image quality and ease of use.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use

Second time Canon owner

My previous camera was a Canon Elph. So when the CanonPowerShot was recommended to me I knew to expect good quality! I take food photos and this is a great camera for that. The LCD screen is very clear and plenty big. It does have loads of features that I have yet to figure out. Not very tech savy here! For the money and the overall quality I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Added bonus...it fits in my Canon Elph camera case!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, easy to use
Cons: Complicated controls/menu
