very good, few suggestions

So, i have two main needs in a point and shoot digicam:
a) viewfinder
b) batteries (often rafting, backpacking, without power)
This camera has both, for a good price and excellent quality images.

two important suggestions for canon (hope they read these)
a) the dial on top for settings is very easily dislodged / rotated when putting the camera in / out of your pocket. i'd often take it out, and it's moved from 'auto' (my default) to movie or program or some other setting. too easy to roll with just handling the camera
b) in using menu to check memory space on card, WAY too easy to inadvertently hit 'format' (and thus ERASE everything on your card). i found this out the hard way. it should absolutely have an 'are you sure.....you'll lose all images on card'' screen (like when deleting a computer file) before letting you reformat so easily. I'm quite tech savvy and if i made this mistake, suspect others can too

I like the size. It takes really good pictures. It eats batteries
like nothing i have ever seen. Unless you have unlimited access to cheap batteries don't buy. When the camera says change batteries they are about 10% used and the battery tester still says good . I tried rechargeable ones and they last about 4-8 pictures on a good day. I have used 8 fresh new alkaline batteries today on 7 pictures. I am going to find an ac adaptor or get a new camera. I cannot afford the batteries.

Great ecomonical purchase

Has more features than one might expect in this price range. Becomes more simplified each time you use it.
Might take a while absorbing all its features if you are a novice. Takes beautifully colored and sharp pictures.Getting Started booklet is sheer basics to understanding the lesser fundamentals of the camera.
The Owners Manual may be downloaded and is very essential. Suggest purchasing the rechargeable battery unit, otherwise it is hard on batteries.

Best Purchase Ever

This is a great camera. I purchased the camera on January 7th. I took the camera on a Bahmas cruise. Unbelievable pictures! So many people have commented on the quality of the pictures they look like post cards. The camera is very easy to use. I would recommend this camera to friends and family just like it was recommended to me. Keep up the great quality of Canon products. I will be purchasing more Canon products in the near future.

This camera was bought for a replacement just today. I have already taken several pictures, and used the movie feature. The camera is very easy to use, if you will read the instruction manual 1st, and follow it.

I love this camera. It takes beautiful pictures. It took me a while to get the settings to my liking, but once you do that, you'll love it.
Just point and shoot. I find myself using the easy setting most of the time because I'm satisfied with the way they turn out.
I have had my camera for a couple of years now and don't intend to buy another until this one dies and even if it does, I'll stick with canon.

Okay, I wrote a review earlier and the only reason I didnt give it a full '5' is because I thought it did not take pictures in Sepia, Black and White, etc...well, IT DOES!!! It just takes a little figuring out! This is the best camera ever!! Buy it!! You will not regret this purchase!
