1st Canon. I like it

I shoot pics of paintball games so have a goggle-facemask on. Since I need reading glasses but not regular, I have trouble focusing on the LCD at close range when trying to take a pic, so I need a viewfinder and this model has it. Dislikes: Viewfinder is small plus fixed focus. My previous camera had a focus knob for viewfinder so I could see a clear pic. Likes: A lot of pics I take are 100' or more away so I need the zoom. I am VERY impressed that even at max digital zoom, the pics come out clear!
Cons: viewfinder is small, viewfinder not focusable

I am so happy with the ease of use and the wonderful pictures I couldn't have made a better choice. This is my first Cannon camera and I won't buy any other brand after seeing the quality of pictures. The only problem I had was getting the door open to insert the batteries and memory card but it all worked out.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, great computer program
I would recommend this to a friend!

Really Happy with the A1100IS
on August 31, 2009

I was looking for a good pocket camera with a view finder. The view finder is required by me for bright light situations where the LCD screen is hard to see. I found what I was looking for in the A1100IS. The controls are straight forward and easy to use without having to go through a long menu. The movie mode is wonderful! My one complaint is the the 134 page instruction book. Discovering a description of the many menu choices is an adventure because the table of contents and index are poorly written resulting in guessing about some of the setup choices.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Short battery life, poorly written instruction book

wanted to write to say how much i love this camera. Iam still trying to figure out the camera i have only had it 2 days and it does take excellent pictures. Took the camera to a bowling tournament and even in low light it took good pictures. Then went to park and this camera gave outstanding pictures. Iam happy to say that if you want a great camera this is it. And with 12.1 mega pixel you can blow picturesup to big sizes and no grain shows up. This camera is great and i love it.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Won't last a day
on February 22, 2010

I have used this camera for almost two months now and it has yet to last a full day before dying. I am not camera happy, nor do I leave the camera on when not in use- it simply uses up a lot of battery power. There is no point in bringing my camera out of the house with me because I am lucky to get 1 or 2 pics before the camera dies. There is no plug in charger available for this camera; which makes it inconvenient to charge especially if you are not at home. I am happy with the pictures that are taken; however there are plenty of other cameras that can take a nice picture AND last for weeks without needing to be charged.
Pros: excellent image quality, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life, no charger available
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Plays well with Ubuntu Linux

Bought this camera as a replacement for my faithful A75. Plugged it into my Ubuntu Linux box and...presto! F-Spot came up and started downloading pictures. This is a great camera. The thing I miss most is the voice memo function that the A75 had. Also, battery life isn't that great but if you use rechargables and turn the LCD display off you should get at least a day's shooting. Excellent movie mode.
In short: a great little camera.
Pros: movie mode, ease of use, picture quality
Cons: Short battery life, no voice memo function

Great Camera

Great picture quality for the price. Easy to transfer pictures to computer. I researched different cameras before making this purchase and decided this was the best camera for the price. It hasn't let me down. Make sure you buy a memory card, the one that comes with the camera doesn't hold many pictures.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: need additional memory card

I have had this camera since March 2009. I love, love, love it. Many of you mention that you are not happy with the FUZZY images you get from it. If you would read your manual and learn about the settings, you will come away with a great photo. In regards to battery life, I use the lithium batteries and they are well worth the extra money spent. They give a much longer life. One individual mentioned that you can't delete ALL pictures at one time. That is incorrect. You can delete multiple pictures from the menu mode. You can protect ones you don't want to delete too. This camera is fantastic if you take the time to learn all it's functions. I have taken some of my best and favorite pictures with this camera. I have always had a love for photography and this camera has convinced me to start my own business on the side. I also plan on upgrading to a more expensive Digital Canon in the near future, but will always keep this little jewel handy.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
