Eats batteries!!!

The camera very well and all of the features are nice and easy to use. Also, the camera is the perfect size for being able to carry it all evening...even with case, it still fits in my pocket comfortably.
HOWEVER, its unbelievable how many batteries this camera goes through...especially if you use the flash, which is obviously needed a lot. Even when I use the more powerful (& more expensive) "camera" double A batteries, the camera just kills them. For a normal event that you would plan on taking the camera and taking photos, you literally have to bring 6 or more batteries.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Poor image quality, Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

But the manual is really difficult to deal with. Very poorly laid out. Maybe a little small for my hands but..That's me, not the camera's fault. I have taken some great shots with it!
Pros: easy to use, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

The Canon A1100IS series is one of the best cameras that has been put onto the market. From the moment I started using the camera, I found that not only did the camera work the way it was intended but it excelled in the areas that I found difficult in analog cameras. I recently converted from a great analog camera and found the A1100IS to be well worth the investment. It works wonders in evening environments and low light scenarios. If you are asking questions about which camera to purchase, consider the A1100IS series well worth your time and money.

What were you thinking?

Well I purchased the 1100 trying to replace mu A720, which had great image quality but the flash is failing. I hoped hat the higher resolution meant higher image quality. What a disappointment that was. The image quality is so poor that I compared it to the quality of a picture taken with a camera phone. I set the camera to the highest resolution with the fine option selected (note that the super fine is not available on this model, at least I could not find it) I immediately knew something was wrong when the numbers of pictures that I could take with a "higher" resolution camera was more than the number of pictures I could take with my A720 using the same memory card.
Imagine my disappointment when after the trip to the mountains I came back to my computer to see the pictures. I could see the pixels and the pictures were not sharp at all, even those of stationary objects.
To sum it all, I woke up the next morning and returned the camera. I purchased it the day before.
I was so disappointed, I owe several products from canon and was expecting the same for this camera.
I also noticed that this camera did not offer the option for panoramic pictures as the A720 did.

Most pictures are blurry. It takes a long time to get a shot, even with a high speed card. Liked my old Canon, but am frustrated with this one. It also doesn't stay on the setting that I set it on.
