I must have a bad one?!?

I am using this lens on a 5D3. First the focusing is an issue since the camera is having problems it does not have with any of the other (5) L lenses I use. The ISO is also kicked into really high numbers in indoor shots and for no appreciable reason, resulting in very noisy shots. the detail is there but it is not that sharp, even shooting RAW. The focus plane is a problem too. Setting a higher F should give more depth but at distances that other lens will deliver sharp depth of field I get people that are not in focus while others are in group shots. This is a big problem. Shots that I wanted more bokeh did not get that much unless I physically moved out to a distance and zoomed the lens. And even then the bokeh was mild. The best shots are outdoors with daytime light. Focus and sharpness are extra important to me. I demand razor sharp shots and this lens does not deliver ever. It just does not do what a 24-70 or a 70-200 or a 16-35 will do. Period. I am very disappointed since I read up on reviews from users for weeks before buying it. For this much money it should be a top notch lens but it delivers mediocre results. The weight is an issue only in that you must hold the lens with your left hand when not shooting to prevent the lens barrel from sliding all the way out. This is a major pain since you need your left hand to operate the camera when reviewing shots and it is not available because it is holding the lens from shooting (sliding hard) down from gravity. My wrist was fine the next day despite the weight of the camera, lens and flash (it really is heavy!) and shooting for hours on end. I really want this lens to be good but I have shot a wedding, wildlife, landscape and family shots and even tried macro type shots; the results are all consistently disappointing. I can get great shots but the chances of a good shot turning out bad are too high and I cannot learn to use this one lens differently than all of the others and still roll the dice on what I end up with.Sadly I am returning it.
Cons: Semi-sharp images, iso quirkiness
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's not as sharp as the newer 100-400, but it is a great all-in-one hiking lens.
I would recommend this to a friend!
