Envelope printing is a real chore
on January 23, 2010

It's not a bad printer and I have only one real complaint. Printing addresses on envelopes is a real chore because MS Word doesn't communicate the envelope size you chose with the printer driver. Each time you print you have to go into the printer driver and set the envelope size or else the driver thinks the envelope is the size of a sheet of paper. James M from Epson Tech Support confirmed it with this response "the printer driver (NX415) does not fully take envelope settings applied only in Ms Word, and that you have to go to the printer driver preferences and select envelope paper size. We recommend using that workflow, there is no other easy method."

Change is great

The change to the Epson was great because of the ability to view the finished project before it was printed has saved a lot paper and time. There was the adjustment to having to install four inks instead of two. It is light weight and easily moved from work station to work station. Great buy. Will definitely buy another Epson product.

All-In-One is All You'll Need

Best little all in one for home office if you aren't printing lots of text documents or have a lot of photocopying. Typical inkjet quality when it comes to text sharpness (i.e. laser is crisper than inkjet.) Convenient and easy to set up for the Mac. Scans are of excellent quality for mock ups in graphic design layouts & web design. Scanning software easy to use. Haven't had the opportunity to use the SD memory card to print photos yet. Print quality is excellent for color photos on Epson photo paper. Love the separate ink cartridges. Just wish it had a bigger black ink cartridge although you can purchase one that gives you more output but it is not big enough.

Great budget All-in-one

This printer is a reliable budget all in one printer. It is a bit noisy, but it's fast. I've had my little Stylus NX415 for about a year now and it's still chugging along with the same speed and quality as when I took it out of the box. Ink cartridges are easy to change, and you only change the ones that are empty. If you need an inexpensive all-in-one for at home use, this is it.

Amazingly fast for an inexpensive all-in-one. Good print quality, too.

I replaced a 5 yr old printer with this new Epson, and was surprised at the new options. I have never had a scanner before, and didn't think I would have use for one, but am copying lots of old family pictures, etc.
Thank you, Epson!!

Not Best Printer
on May 7, 2010

Although I thought this would be a fantastic printer, I wish I would have made an alternative decision. The positives is that its beautiful, prints nice, scans, can download pictures directly to printer.
However, the MAJOR downside is that if one ink cartridge is out, you MUST replace it in order for printing to continue...you can not print without ALL of the ink cartridges, which is NOT cost effective.

disappointing

The old Stylus 760 Color died after 9 years. It was a great printer. Unfortunately the level of quality since 2000 has sadly waned. The print head is frail and unreliable. The ink cartridges are too pricey, and sometimes "cartridge not recognized" message will display after the cartridge has been in service for several weeks. My first NX415 failed in 11 months of light duty. Epson promptly acknowledged the problem and sent a replacement. The refurbished unit has a defective print head (cover failed to latch) and failed to recognize Epson's cartridges. The next replacement was a new unit and launched successfully. I have several Epson printers of this generation and an ample ink inventory. (so sad) When I run out of ink or machines (whatever comes first), I'm done. The customer support people were very courteous and helpful - the product quality is the culprit.
