We weren't in the market to buy a flat screen TV but when we witnessed the quality of this TV coupled with the price, we couldn't pass it up. The picture is wonderful plus the online reviews were great. Excellent purchase!

This 55-inch monster looks great. The picture is perfect. My TV had no bad pixels and even though was shipped via mail order, the packing container was very sufficient to protect it. The ability to zoom & stretch the picture to accommodate different inputs was a welcome surprise.
My only complaint is that it does seem to have some lip sync issues with audio over HDMI. I have a call into support and supposedly a quick visit by the LG tech will update the firmware to fix it.

This the 2nd LG Television The 1st was a 37 inch for almost 3yrs and never any problems at all. And this is the exact same TV just a lot BIGGER. Beautiful Job LG Keep up the Great quality and Work! In the Market for a Great TV this is the one for you :)

Lovin' my new TV

This is my 2nd LG TV (42" Plasma, too). I love this TV. It has a nice picture and very good sound quality. It is a good TV for the price I paid. I haven't had any problems with my plasma so I didn't have any reservations about buying another one and I haven't been disappointed this time either. I would recommend LG TV highly.
The only con is that it does not have PiP like my plasma.

Gots to love it!

Love this TV! It has a beautiful picture and wonderful color. This unit is very user friendly that my 5 yr old son can switch modes so he can watch dvd's. Sound is a little on the low side because of the speakers pointing straight down. Nothing that a simple surround sound cann't fix. I still recommend this TV to others its an excellent buy.

Opened my eyes

We owned a smaller, lesser quality LCD HD TV. We were happy with it as it was an upgrade from our CRT TV. When we purchased the 55LH40 we were shocked by the sharpness and accuracy of the picture. It was liking into a window into another world. It changed our perception of our Blu-Ray movies. It truly is amazing.
We purchased this particular model because of the four HDMI inputs. The lack of S-Video hookups didn't bother us. If you're buying a TV of this quality, S-Video shouldn't be a factor anyway.
The built in sound is also very good and can fill a medium size room nicely. The controls are well laid out and easy to access. It took us a few minutes to get used to menus but now working the menu is second nature.
The only con I really have is the TruMotion technology. I expect some blur when watching action and when the TruMotion takes over screen movement and pans look artificial. I work in video production so I notice details. However, my daughter noticed it, too. While my wife did not until I pointed it out to her. We actually got used to it but I don't think this technology helps very much and may even detract from the overall picture.

WISH I BOUGHT IT MYSELF

I received this television as a Christmas gift. I wish I had gone out and bought it myself sooner. After researching all of the models out there, this one had the best picture, sound and quality. The only drawback that I have is the blurring with the Tru-Motion technology. It is seems blurry to me and not as crisp as I thought it would be. Learning the menu was a little confusing but after a couple of uses that is like second nature to me. If I had enough space to put another large television I would go out and buy another one of these units today. I love my LG.
